Uh, too bad it's with Verizon Wireless.
Pricey data, crippled phones, crap GUI and firmware.
This phone is so shity, i hate the bulky part that at the end of the phone. They should get rid of that part, what the hell are they thinking?
Dude, the real question is what are YOU thinking?
The end of the phone contains the speaker, microphone, and USB port. So basically, getting rid of that part of the phone would have the following effects:
1. No USB connectivity with a computer or charger.
2. No speakerphone or external sound.
3. No ability to speak into the phone.
So, what phones do you think are better than this one, I'd like to know? And where did you learn to spell?
Big deal, it's small, I'm tired of people's obsession with small, I'll take features and the ability to upgrade any day.
And how do you pronounce that KRZR sh!t?
Where's the GSM?
Malcomb,
Totally agree. The antenna-bulge ruins the deal for me.
Then again, with this whole phone... so antiquated even now! The specs just aren't in line with what I'd want of a phone at this hype-level, sadly. Why, oh WHY, can't we get some nice new Korean and Japanese widgetry... I thought USA was #1 in the world for everything? Clearly not.
yeah, the bulge at the bottom is getting old, and the screen seems way too small
I have played with it for a couple of minutes and even though i am a huge Razr fan i am afraid that Motorola will loose lots of customers. This thing, at least the blue version, looks cheap (less aluminium more plastic) the screen seems to originate from the V600 and, don't get me wrong there, it is too slim. That is just not pretty anymore, especially because it is so long.
And the worst part: Software is still the same as with the Razr. Simply ugly
I just don't get them. They landed an incredible succes with the Razr, proving that they can design good stuff. But since that masterpeace, nothing but average phones. SLVR? Way to small screen! PEBL? - to bulky! All the Razr tagged crap like the V3x...
@ Perrey Z
I think it should be pronounced "Crazier". At least that's what I thought when I saw the name.
i suppose you would pronouce it the "kraze-r"
i like the name...
Long and skinny = not good.
I guess I *might* get it, since I'm due for an upgrade, but only because the Chocolate isn't as good as it first seems (based on people testing it).
I thought that bulge was for the battery? Am I missing something? What is so special about this phone? At a glance, it looks almost just like your grandma's regular RAZR. Is that the same UI as before?
Agreeed with Geeky about crap GUI. Probably we need wait some months before they will introduce more friendly GUI.
Cruiser, fools.
yes, "fools".. certainly foolish not to be able to read a word with no vowels in it.

I thought about getting this phone... but... razor is talked up too much. I'd rather get a plain old phone thats pretty in a useful way.
Thanks.
P.s - I don't think people should base their getting this phone on my post - I'm a lil biased. ( I don't like motorola)
"I don't know karate, but I know Ka-razor."
--James Brown, the Big Payback.
Oh yeah, james, because im sure Motorola would name their phone Krazer or Crazier. One of the fools, no doubt.
I saw one last month, I have to say that the current razr looks a lot better.
NEVER EVER EVER EVER will I EVER sign on with Verizon as long as they cripple their phones.
I guess KRZR is pronounced "crazer", somewhere between "crazier" and "k(anary)razor":)
Wow, harsh words in the comments today (did someone get up on the wrong side of the bed). I'm actually going to reserve my judgment on this phone until I get it in my hands. VZW does cripple its phones, most recently with Vcast Music, which forces all MP3's to be converted into WMA, and NO Mac support (grrrrr)!
The bulge is the antenna, it doesn't bother me that much...
any ETA on this one?
hey who knows, maybe the initial release of this phone will have the BT unlocked like it did with the inital release of the razrs. with mine, i can transfer mp3 ringtones, pics, and recorded audio/video clips to/from my powerbook and razr, as well as sync the address book. by far the best phone i've had yet (i'm sticking with verizon, they're the only provider with actual, real, non-hyped coverage). yes, the UI has a slight lag, but pales when held against all the features it has.
and please, that 'bulge' at the bottom? it doesn't add thickness to it when it's closed, so what's the big deal?
but i digress - this krzr looks sweet, although it appears to have a considerably smaller screen, something i would greatly miss after using the razr. size comes with a compromise, and i think the razr found the perfect balance. thin, yet still has a nice big screen (ok so the external screen could be bigger, but oh well).
Never going back to Verizon. Ever.
Wow. I didn't think it was possible for them to make a phone that looks less user-friendly than the original RAZR.
On a side note, I also agree that Verizon has been a piece of shit company lately. The interface it uses now is SO terrible. Seriously, who the hell would allow that to happen?
It sucks that Verizon has the totally best service in most places, but the only new phones it gets are never sleek and always crap. Does Verizon have ONE slider or swivel phone out right now? Didn't think so.
By the way, we've been with Verizon the past 7 years or so, but we're heavily leaning towards Cingular now, because they have sleek looking phones without complete crap GUI's. The only phone that interests me right now from Verizon is the a990, but they need a slick, midpriced phone that isn't and inch thick with a protruding antenna for those people that can't afford to buy the a990.
Lets get real. Motorola is going to sell a ton of these.
"Does Verizon have ONE slider or swivel phone out right now? Didn't think so. " Yes, kind of. I have an LG F9100 from Cingular and it sucks compared to the V that Verizon has which is a flip phone. Sliders are really overrated. And the Nokia N90 if I remember correctly is a swivel phone. There's not really a point in anything other than a flip phone and a non flip phone, not all this swivel and slide and that weird Sidekick flip.
The blue casing on this phone does look a little cheap. The dark gray razr is the best as far as looks. All these phones to me are way overrated anyways. I just want a phone that works and sounds great. Too many people worry about the phones look and its "coolness" factor instead of the quality of the phone itself. I have verizon and yes the cripple there phones but I never have a dropped call on my end. That to me is whats most important.
Yeah, I own a Razr V3c and this just doesn't do it for me.
As far as all the Verizon-bashing...a lot of what people say is true. However, I get a nice discount because of my job, and the service beats all others in this area (I live in the sticks), so I stick with them. I don't use data services, they are finally getting the hint that the phones have to be good, and most phones are a few hacks away from doing what I want to do wallpaper/ringtone-wise.
The only thing that really bothers me is their insistence on slapping that gaudy crayon-red interface onto everything. Functionally it's not too terrible, but man is it ever ugly.
It's basically the next step of the Razer, it will probably continue to shrink in size over years, until it looks like Derek Zoolander's cell phone...but i have to admit- i need a upgrade and i am with VZW-and this one is looking pretty good to me, i would def. buy. Anyone know what month this is due? VZW has great coverage-but their prices haven't adjusted to 2006 yet. I am considering T-Mobile, had Cingular and it was awful.
Well I have had VZW, Cingular and T-Mobile. Cingular was the worst customer service I ever had and that was only the first month. The day my contract ended I went with T-Mobile which was a culture shock prbably the best customer service I had 24 hours a day. Only drawback to T-Mobile was SURPRISE they use the Cingular network in many states.
But the real reason I am going back to Verizon, T-Mobile uses Asurian as their insurance provider and they actually changed my coverage after over 2 years from $35 to $110 deductable to cover my Black RAZR which I can get for free if I go with anyone else. And even if I pay, they will not fix my black RAZR and they will not replace it with a Black RAZR. They asked if Pink was ok....ARGGG!!!!
