Apple's Mighty Mouse finally gets Bluetooth
Looks like Apple forgot to file for ye olde confidentiality agreement, but today an FCC filing showed off Apple's latest device: the Mighty Mouse with Bluetooth. If anyone's surprised, well, that'd be pretty silly of you being that a wireless / Bluetooth Mighty Mouse is what's been asked for of Apple since day one of the peripheral's release. So, who's got odds that they'll finally freaking fix those pitiful squeeze triggers on the side? By the way, for those not interested in poring over the manual, expect the "M6" (the device's listed codename) to be powered by AA cells -- not by an internal rechargeable battery (i.e. don't expect a little dock or USB plug, bucko).
P.S. -Yes, as pointed out, it would also appear this Mighty Mouse is a laser driven device, for increased optical precision. But c'mon, you know it's really the Bluetooth that's got you paying down your credit card.

"I own the original bluetooth mouse, an yes, weight is a serious issue. it´s impossible to get some precise pointing with it. why use 2 AA batts? how about just 1, or better, 1 AAA??? i wouldnt care if the running life shortens a bit.... Apple, stop making heavy bT mouses!"
According to Apple's web site, this new mouse can use either one or two AA batteries:
"...the wireless Mighty Mouse works with one or two AA batteries. Two last longer, but one works just as well and packs ultralight."
And for those that aren't aware, this mouse is available now from Apple's Store for $69.00 with free shipping.
Damn! It's about time. I actually find that mouse shape to be more comfortable than any other bluetooth mouse out there. It's a pitty it took them this long.
Now, if only Logitech would get off their asses an create a bluetooth version of their trackman wheel. I prefer that over any other mouse any day but for portability's sake...I'll take the mighty mouse for now.
Is it just me or is the mighty mouse a piece of seriously flawed hardware. I've had 2 of them now, since switching to Macs about 8 months ago. Both of them start activating the side buttons by themselves after I've used the mouse for a while. And, when it does that, I don't have to touch the mouse. Just hold my fingers about 2mm above the mouse and 'click' - activated.
They are a piece of smelly dog doo doo.
frank, what is the acronym for crap, or "c.r.a.p." as you put?

So FYI,
THE GOOD NEWS:
I got one of these from work. It is frankly the most comfortable mouse I have ever used. Once I got used to the right click, I liked it better than the regular mice buttons. I had to set the sensitivity up a bit to get the scroll speed i was used too but it was GREAT!
THE BAD NEWS:
It stopped working 2 1/2 weeks after I got it. The cursor would still work but the scrolling button and left and right click would not work. After reading up I found several sites including the apple store with similar reports. It looks like Apple has a serious QA issue here. I just hope they can eventually get it fixed because I really liked the feel and functionality of this one.
