Pentax announces Optio S7
It's a Pentax, it's an Optio, it's got a 7 megapixel sensor, face recognition, DivX / MPEG-4 VGA video recording, optical image stabilization, a 2.5-inch display, 23MB memory, 3x optical zoom, SDHC support, and a name: the S7. Nothing we haven't all seen before; another day, another model. This one will happen to run you $300 (or less) come September.

I have problem with Optio S7, where I can find "Pentax Optio S7 lens block" ?
Please email me if this parts available
thx
Uhmmm It seems not to feature optical stabilization, according to the specs... This is a main feature and the camera doesn't have it. It has instead a "Blur reduction" feature which in fact works only in 4MP resolution...
This is a well-known issue also in camcorders (see: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Image_stabilization)
i currently have the optio s6 and it is one of the worst cameras i have ever owned in terms of picture quality. i gather perhaps maybe 60% of my photos come in proper focus. a shame because it is such a compact camera and fairly easy to navigate it's menu's. oh well... back to canon.
I have the original Optio S. Love it, quality is not the best but it's so tiny and practical that you take it everywhere.
While it seems like the Optio line has been getting better and better specs, I wouldn't mind a new Optio S with lower specs if they can make it even smaller! (i.e. imagine a 5 MP camera like the Optio, except half the width). Does anyone know of a smaller digital camera out there?
I have the original Optio S as well and carry it with me everywhere in an altoids tin inside of my man-purse. From my understanding everything after the S4 does not fit in an altoids tin without modification. Altoidsability is a major selling point to me. :-)
What type of modifications are needed to make an S7 fit into an altoids tin?
I have an original Optio S, and love the portability, but I'm looking to upgrade. If I only have to file off the wrist strap loop from the camera, I would be more than willing to do it.
The Optio S7 features 7.0 megapixels of resolution, Blur Reduction High ISO mode to help reduce the effects of camera shake and subject blurring, Face Recognition AF & AE that automatically detects the subject's face and adjusts the focus and exposure, a 3X optical zoom, 2.5 inch LCD monitor, MPEG-4 DivX Movie Mode, 23MB internal memory and is SDHC (Secure Digital High Capacity) memory card compliant for capacities up to 4GB or more
Optios are greate values, I have one which is 4 years old and was considered a cheapy at the time but it was probably the best 3mp camera on the market at that time.
i have the optio s5i and it produces the worst pictures ive ever seen. the camera will only produce decent pictures in extremely high light situations. in any other light situations the pictures are extremely blurry.
dont waste your money buying an optio.. just spending a little bit more and purchase a sony or another brand you can trust.
Agreed, I bought the optio (Altoids size) and while it looked cool, great interface etc. I could not get it produce decent pictures. It went back and I like my bulkier Canon better.
