More Nikon D80 DSLR deets leaked?
We're not entirely sure how much more you needed to knw about the Nikon D80 that's due to be announced tomorrow, but from the looks of things it's not going to differ all that greatly from their other more professional offerings; the camera will have a 170 degree viewing angle 2.5-inch LCD, 0.18 second startup time, 3fps continuous shooting, and a £699 UK price tag (about $1,300), which, unfortunately, is without lens. Guess we'll find out for sure tomorrow, eh?

yay!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Not too much of a surprise, it all sounds well aligned with some of the early analysis.
Although the price, hmmmm, that must include a lens.
$1300, if it comes with a lens it's going to be a pretty crappy lens.
In the DPreview forums, it was pointed out that cameras in the US are generally priced cheaper anyway, and when taking that into account, and using the other camera's pricing by scale between the US and the UK the D80 price in the US will actually be closer to $1,099.
We'll know soon enough.
The article states the £699 is body only. It will, however, probably be cheaper in the states.
It had better be cheaper than $1300. With some really good shopping you can get a D200 body.

Yup.. But the places that will sell it to you for $1300 have a habit of forgetting to sell it with a battery, charger, etc.
The D70s which it seems it would be replacing sells for $1,299 with the 18-70 Lens. When they replaced ther D100 with the D200, the retail price for the d200 was the same as originally for the D100, $1,699.99. SO if you apply the same formula, the D80 would sell for $1299.99 with the 18-70 lens.
gee with the whole world falling apart..thats a lot of money for a camera......maybe canned goods and water would be a better investment.
Neal,
It's canned goods, water, solid gold, and Potassium Iodide.
Typo. 11th word.
