Super Secret Apple Rumors Podcast 083 - 08.08.06
Ah, welcome to another addition of the Super Secret Apple Rumors Podcast, with your host Stevie J. Jobsie didn't have a ton of new gear to announce -- just the Mac Pro -- but it is, in fact, WWDC. Did we ever get a load of information about Leopard, though, the new version of OS X Apple's making us wait until next year to get. Next freaking year! Well, whatever, there's sure to be a lot more to come with 10.5, but in the mean time take it away, Steve.Get the podcast

I hate apple. Why can't we get a normal Podcast? I miss those...
Austin @ Aug 8th 2006 12:31PM
Hey - 2 things:
1. Thanks for fantastic coverage yesterday, well done guys.
2. I felt like someone walked over my grave when Steve started speaking - this sounds like someone on his way out - voice weak, thinner than normal, hesitant, lots of "ehs", bit of a wobble in the vocal chords. Combine this with no sense of enjoyment from him and all the help he got on stage. Im very sorry to say.......
gorkon @ Aug 8th 2006 12:39PM
Um.....they released the Xserve also guys.....
hj @ Aug 8th 2006 12:44PM
#1 that was the first thing I noticed too. Jobs definatly looks like his health is going downhill. Let us pray.
XServed @ Aug 8th 2006 12:47PM
Thats right, XServe.
I always needed an overpriced, hyped-up media box. How did I ever live without it?
Macs in the server business.
What's next, an iCAR?

i gotta agree. i was really excited for an actual podcast and had to listen to 10 minutes of steves droning on before i realized it was only just WWDC and no comments.
this is what happens when you hit the big time.

I completely agree with the previous posts re: Steve's health. I was very surprised to see so much involvement from secondary players, most of whom really suck as Keynote speakers. Phil Schiller always seems nervous to me, Bertrand can barely speak, it was really only Scott Forstall who impressed me at all. Is it just me or does he rock?
It definitely took away from the Keynote to have the constant switching between speakers, and I saw no need for it, other than giving the otehr three more opportunities to try out the Keynote scene. Did you notice how Steve gave each presenter encouragement after their part? It seemed very 'mentorish'. Bill Gates' recent distancing from day to day operations came to mind, and that's a sad day for Apple indeed. I'm sure I speak for a lot of Apple fans when I say that I'm not ready to lose my Steve-note so soon.

"I always needed an overpriced, hyped-up media box. How did I ever live without it?"
Actually the XServer is cheaper then Dell's top line server product.

"Why is it that every time Steve Jobs farts, there are three or more engadget posts covering it?"
Replace Steve Jobs name with Bill Gates and you'll see that post when Microsoft has there own even later this year to show off the Zune player....
But to anwser this question: Engadget=Tech Blog, so for them not to cover EVERYTHING would be going against everything this blog is....

I agree, but I still think Apple is more about fashion then about technology.
Apple kills another small project @ Aug 8th 2006 2:29PM
Apparently its in apples nature to kill projects ... first Expose killed Konfabulator without even a thanks and now Spaces killed space.app with the blink of an eye without even the slightest thanks ... because well... its apple ...

Wow, you guys sure know how to have fun. Every time we do a Super Secret Apple Rumors Podcast (which are totally tongue-in-cheek, of course), it's just of a Jobsnote. It's fun. If it's not something you want to hear, then delete it. It's not like we're being mysterious about what it is you're downloading... it says right there: host - Steve Jobs.
Anyhow, we'll have our podcast this week, it's just been delayed. Pete's having more TWC troubles you'll hear about later, so we didn't have much choice.
Best, Ryan

A couple of things:
1. We're having some scheduling and technical issues, so it'll be a few more days until the next "proper" podcast.
2. Sean DL totally nailed: we actually strive to cover EVERYTHING related to the world of gadgets, and so we're going to go overboard whether it's Apple, Microsoft, Sony, Nintendo, etc.

Steve jobs was treated for pancreatic cancer back in august 2004.

do you think bill gates gets jealous of steve's spot on engadget... maybe its time for super secret microsoft rumors podcast
Wry Cooter @ Aug 8th 2006 9:43PM
I'm glad to have lower bandwidth audio only of the keynote (I haven't upgraded to Quicktime 7 yet on this particular computer using Panther - I'd have to rebuy the pro license)
Thanks for the audio rip.
