In a recent filing with the Securities and Exchange Commission, Lucent Technologies has disclosed the new name of their mega telco-tech merger with Alcatel they announced in April. The newly formed $25 billion company will be formally known as Alcatel Lucent, ending intense rounds of speculation by nobody at all. Everything should be sealed up by the end of year, and Lucent investors will own around 40 percent of combined company, with Alcatel types holding the rest.[Via The Wireless Report]

Lucatel
or
Alcatelcent
or maybe
Lucecalcatelcent
My vote would be "Lu and Al's Big Technology Company" ...

When the deal was first floated, somebody on Slashdot said they should call the new company "Accident."
Since ALCATEL is loosing in telecom bussiness they should name company as LUS-A-TEL

I hope the other Lucent stockholders vote against the deal, too.
The union that announced it in April now Gentle Telco-Tech for 25 $ Trillions now will be known as Alcatel Lucent being Alcatel the holder of the majority of actions with 60 % and Lucent with 40 % will be sealed at the end of this year.

"Alcatel Lucent - Like Canada, we suck in French and English."

You might not have heard of it, but Alcatel lays most of the undersea fibre optics cabling all over the globe.

I HATE Alcatel. I have to say they've nearly ruined my family's life. My Dad used to work for an american company called DSC Communications Corporation, which was bought out by those european bastards, who then proceeded to cap my dad's salary and then fire all the people who worked under my dad. Then some jackhole who wanted to "get rid" of all the old DSC Employees comes onto the scene, and my dad has to hightail it or get his walking papers. He gave 18 years to DSC, and within a year and a half, Alcatel screws him and his family royally. I hope their stock crashes and then their CEO is indicted for insider trading and civilly jailed for the rest of his natural life. The jerks...

Where's the gain for us guys who bought LU 5 years ago at 12..mid tech dump... and new shares are at 13.15 currently and when the merger ocurred I went from 800 shares to 156 to be valued the same.
Who do I care who the hell they merge with??
