KFE's F1500 Charmmy Kitty MP3 player

We're not sure if our contractual obligation to write about Hello Kitty-themed gadgets applies to Charmmy Kitty as well, but what the heck, we'll do it. (You probably already know this, but Charmmy Kitty is Hello Kitty's pet cat. Apparently no one at Sanrio thinks it's creepy that a cat would have a cat as a "pet".) Anyway, it looks like KFE Japan just announced the F1500, a Charmmy Kitty-themed 512MB digital audio player that supports playback of MP3 and WMA audio files (not sure whether that includes DRM'd WMA or not). Major downsides are no display and a paltry six hours of battery life; it's almost like they're challenging you to prove how much you love Charmmy Kitty by buying this thing.

Why it has an ipod headphone?
bob @ Aug 22nd 2006 11:18AM
Hoho, au contraire, my friend: one's a cat, and one's a cat head on a human-esque body. There's a world of difference there.

It does not bother me at all if a cat has a "pet" cat, as long as it is a plutonic relationship. Thank you.

This is really cool for the little girls in our lives! Hopefully Engadget can post info on how to get one of these from the States. :)

Why are they using Apple earbuds in their picture?

Officially endorsed by Clay Aiken!

Tapecase: You mean "platonic." "Plutonic" means "deep igneous or magmatic origin." Sounds hot.

Well, apparently no one at Disney seems to think it's creepy for a dog (Goofy) to own a dog (Pluto) as a pet!

"Well, apparently no one at Disney seems to think it's creepy for a dog (Goofy) to own a dog (Pluto) as a pet!"
1. Goofy is not a dog. Stated repeatedly by Disney.
and
2. Pluto is Mickey's pet. (Kind of making point one moot)

I will never understand the Asians...

Whoa, Goofy's not a dog?!? What is he then?
@werk @ Aug 22nd 2006 2:22PM
I accept the challenge

Kawaii!!!
I rather like it. I want a charmy themed ipod Nano.
I think its kind of funny that Disney denies Goofy being a dog, although their site says "The character whom we know today as Goofy first appeared six decades ago in Mickey's Revue (1932). Then a bit player (as an obnoxious "laugher" in a barnyard audience), he sported whiskers and square spectacles and was called Dippy Dawg." So maybe he's a creature that is NOT a dog, but of canine origins...
ken @ Aug 23rd 2006 1:56AM
it's obvious: goofy is a DAWG.
