Philips Research shows off dandy Lumalive
We're certainly no strangers to electroluminescent or LED-lit visual cacophony 'round these parts, even when occasionally integrated into clothing. But you or your buds score +400 nerd points if you're brave enough to sport Philips Research's new Lumalive, a low-power flexible array of colored LEDs meshed into a garment's fabric, which they're prepping to show off at IFA Berlin. Apparently the "high-impact medium" can be used to deliver "dynamic ads" -- as if our clothing wasn't already enough an advertisement (then again, maybe our threads can start paying for themselves). Either way, media isn't the only thing it's good for; as usual, Philips is taking on the color therapy angle, positing the mental health bebefits to be reaped by those exposed to the soothing, mood-enhancing shades when, for example, their curtains are Lumalive enabled.

not bad, but to plain, or centered in the wrong spot imp. at least it looks more like it belongs on the clothing now. very clean.
Could be useful for kid´s safety, when coming back from school at night, playing when dark, when biking...

For cyclists, this is the next logical progression from blinkie lights. If they made one that said "Hey dick brain, I'll smash your face in with my U-Lock if you get too close to me" I'd buy one in a heartbeat.
Or, you could shape it like a bullseye so I know where to aim my car when you're pretending that your bike is the new commuting traffic pace car by riding five feet out from the curb and refusing to slide over.
NOW I can have my VERY OWN Tron suit!!! WOO HOO!!!
This could be the basis for a nice fabric motorcycle jacket. Built-in turn signals in the upper back/shoulder and a big red brake light in the center. (note most bikes have very low and not very visible turn signals and brake lights). Crap, I need a patent lawyer.
Now all that guy needs is his dog with a "d" glowing on its back.
I for one welcome our new high night time visibility, luminescing overlords.
"when, for example, their curtains are Lumalive enabled." -- as opposed to, say, being made of brightly-colored fabric?
yeah and I wonder how much that jacket costs....
I hope they are not planning to power it with Sony Lithium Ion Batteries.
Nice "I'm completely pwned by the sniper across the quad" jacket, doofus. Brought to you by n00b wear.
I'd wear that vest on my motorcycle. Send graphic-messages to drivers behind me.
I heard that out of the box the message is set to:
"Hey, look at me! I clearly have too much
disposable income. Come and rob me, I probably
have lots of gadgets on my person."
But in Dutch of course.
Yeah, most people here seem to have it right, this would be a much better safety device than emotional therapy o nyour curtains...what is phillips thinking? I could see wearing something like this on a run/bike-ride when it's dark outside. Better than just the reflective tapes/fabrics.
How about scrolling personal signs: "FOR SALE HP ZE5300 LAPTOP $600 OBO 1999 FORD ESCORT 78K COUCH W/MATCHING CHAIRS"
or perhaps "DWM SEEKS SF KIDS OK CALL ###-#### OR ENQUIRE"
"...NO FREAKS"
Stromie looks like a construction worker for IBM.
Philips got the model from Top Gun Hair Styles. He came with the hair gel (for free!). They got the jeans from circa 1998 and the pose is definitely mail ordered from Sears. :( Better luck next time!

How is it powered?
How about your Luvalive cloths Saying'' Luvalive shirt for sale €1 ''
or maybe your chair saying ''Dont sit on the left side, thats my spot''
