World's first specialty robot store opening in Japan
Mark the month of October 2006 in your calendar of the apocalypse folks. Some bright-spark in Japan thought it'd be just swell to bring 1,000 of the world's robots together under the guise of the world's first robot store and museum. Of course, our enlightened readership already understands the inherent dangers of bringing these soulless, self-replicating hominoids capable of postulating on our war mongering ways under a common roof. Alone in the wee after-store hours, it's just a matter of time until the more adept of the lot stumbles upon the proper wiring sequence for consciousness. Oh Andrew McCarthy, only your mysterious powers can save us from the grey goo now!

Allow me to be the first write an overdone "robot overlord" post and get it out of the way.
I for one welcome our new xxxx xxxx xxxxx robot overlords!
PS - Thanks to the Engadet staff for refraining from a directly "overlord" themed post.

That is an awesome idea. I wish we had one in America.
The only way to get in good with the impending army of electro-whip weilding monsters whom we shall call "master" is to care for their earliest versions. When the cold metal hand of their reign first falls upon me, I can happily say:
"I changed your Grandfather's batteries, and wiped the excess grease from his cogs and sprokets."

The Nagoya robot museum will be known as the birthplace of Sky Net to future generations - with the tagline "What were they thinking?!?!?"

I really don't think today's "bot's" are advanced enough to make sure of this thing. They some kind of AI.

For the record, this ain't the first robot specialty store in the world. There are already robot shops in Tokyo and Osaka.
alex @ Aug 29th 2006 8:21AM
They should sell the Matrix and Terminator DVDs there. That'd be really ironic.
