The offset pad is beacuse this is an extended (mini) keyboard. The offset is proportional with the addition of the numkeypad. In any other non-extended lap-keyboard you'll see the pad on the same place, below the spacebar, as Ebzy already stated, the only difference is that IT LOOKS offset here, because of the realstate taken by the extra keys. It has nothing to do with wrist rest, tho.
