Samsung announces 6-megapixel SDC-MS61 compact
Yet more news outta IFA today, with Samsung taking the occasion to announce a new compact digital camera for anyone looking for a little widescreen action. The SDC-MS61 is a six megapixel cam with a 3x optical zoom that'll take pics at up to ISO 1600, as well as 30fps MPEG-4 video in 16:9 aspect ratio (which should give your home movies that much-needed cinematic edge). You'll also be able to view those vids properly thanks to the camera's 3.0-inch widescreen LCD on the rear. The MS61 will also double as a webcam and an MP3 player/recorder, although little details like price and availability have yet to be made readily available.

Pretty neat.. though it does seem a little gimicky with the inclusion of the MP3 thing. Though, why not - if you can put a soundtrack into a movie - maybe thats the plan. Samsung is becoming themselves a little SONY. I just hope they dont use the same batteries :)
I think this is going to be in the $500 range.
I wonder if the 4:3 photo view finder will be cropped to the display with black bars on the sides, or fitted to the width so the actual image will be taller?
why would i buy something from samsung without a phone attached to it?
Does anyone know if this will play mpeg4 movies? Sort of like the Samsung NV3. I'm currently looking for a new camera that's an All-In-One like the NV3 (digital camera, mp3 player, and movie player), but would like a larger screen if possible.
