Sirius Stiletto available for pre-order

Sirius's Stiletto, the do-it-all portable satellite radio, is available for pre-order from Crutchfield as of yesterday afternoon (9/1). Although there's no information on when the player will ship, the new higher-resolution shots of the device should keep Sirius fans' appetites for pics sated for now. The model over at Crutchfield appears to be the WiFi-enabled version -- It has a $349.99 pricetag, the non-WiFi version is $100 less -- so if you'd rather take the hundred bucks over the ability to listen to internet radio stations, keep that finger off the pre-order button.

Yea, the other difference is the smaller one (Stiletto 10) only allows for 10 hours of recorded content.

The Stiletto pictured should be out in mid-late September, but we all know how dates go. ;)

You can also pre-order from TSS-Radio.com, and have been able to for quite some time.

I'm kinda lukewarm on the dock but I hear it has a lock on it which is the one thing I really would've liked on the S50.

The SL10 also doesn't support MP3/WMA, along with (as the first poster states) only recording 10 hours of content and not having WiFi.

It's interesting though that the screen shot shows an older numbering for the Chill station which moved to 34 right before Howard came on line.

Any reception problems with these smaller handheld units? I used to hear tales about the boom box sized portable sattelite radios.

And does the stilletto software work somewhat like a Tivo? That is, you can have it capture and save broadcasts for when you want to listen to them?

It really depends on where you live in regards to reception (and if you have a repeater nearby), this is Sirius' first live portable so we don't have anything really to base it on but this was the case wiwth XM's. However, the antenna headphones help greatly.

You're correct, you'll be able to schedule recordings.

James - Both. Unlike the S50, it can actually receive a signal while on the go (hence the bump on the top left side, which is an antenna). It also has car and home docks available and can stream the Internet streams via a WiFi network if you happen to be indoors where a Satellite Signal isn't available.

Anyway, I'm not really sold on XM. Maybe it's just the crap my mother uses hers for, but it doesn't seem any better than normal radio, which I also avoid.

If I am inside my home, (lying in bed for example)
The device will not have a clear view of the sky.
Will I be able to hear Live broadcasts???
(I do not have any wireless internet access as of yet)

What about at work? inside a concrete building..with no windows..or Wi-Fi connections???

Will this device get any signal???
Where can I find answers?
