JVC showing high definition Everio at IFA
We hesitate to say JVC is showing off their latest Everio at IFA, as apparently only select parties may may be an audience to their latest creation, but we are definitely pleased to report that this recorder records in 1080 high definition. Whether it's 1080p or i we don't yet know (sounds like 1080i, the translation we have states 50-60 frames per second), nor have we any idea how much it'll cost and when it'll land, but apparently they're shooting for release in the first half of 2007. More details as we get 'em![Via I4U]

Oh, now this sounds interesting! I know that the picture quality of the Everio line hasn't been praised for being amazing, but it's suitable. I've wanted a camera with a harddrive (HDD) for awile now, and I was thinking of their latest 505, but if they're going to release HD next year...! But let's at least hope they include some sort of built-in lens cap...I lose everything not attached.
let's see if it's HD or HDV because if it's HDV then it's really nothing new or special... Stick to the Panasonic P2 HVX200....
Just about every JVC item (with few exceptions) purchased in the last two years has ended up just not working. The worst part is they never have replacement parts to even fix issues they know are issues due to bad design. They then do what they can to not honor their warranties. I made the mistake of purchasing quite a bit of JVC when upgrading?????
Look me up in a year when you've purchased this and it stopped working six months from now.
JVC sucks (honestly)
the higher the resolution the higher the price..
I wish Sony or Canon made something like this...
Sony does make an HDV camera that costs around $2,000. Canon makes a professional grade HD camera.
Sony does make somthing like this, the new HDD AVCHD unit the HDR-SR1. The picture quality is extremely good and the unit is very easy to use.
It is released in the US on Oct 25th, check out the unit on Amazon etc. for further details.
I suspect if it states 50/60 frames, that JVC is following in Sony's footsteps with a PAL/NTSC switchable (as in Sony's HDV Z1 camcorder). This nakes sense as well as being a good move (if it is as stated) considering the fact that JVC has been a reluctant player in the HDV consortium/group. Shame they'rebeing so cagey, though.
"I suspect if it states 50/60 frames, that JVC is following in Sony's footsteps with a PAL/NTSC switchable (as in Sony's HDV Z1 camcorder)." If it states "50/60 frames," then it's most likely a misprint or mistranslation -- it should probably read "50/60 fields." At a data rate comparable to AVCHD's or HDV's, 50 or 60 frames/sec (50p/60p) would likely start to look suboptimal.
