Iubi's N4300 GPS handheld

Another day, another totally sick portable media player we won't soon see here in the US. Iubi's N4300 has the obligatory CE.net 5 install, powering a 4.3-inch display, with GPS and XviD, DivX, MPEG, WMV, MP3, WMA, and OGG playback. We're actually a little happy we can report on these without worrying about their heading to the states -- what kind of mess would our market be if we had to choose from all these things?

Good thing i live in the UK we get the majority of new PVP that are always shown on engadget :) Huge Variety to choose from unlike the USA which misses out on all these products. You guys are stuck with the over priced, under-featured ipods lol! The Korean PVP and new Archos models are far superior and the likelyhood is they will never see the light of day in the USA!

Wow, I submitted this last Friday...

Public service announcement: iubi's products aren't that great. I have the iubi Blue and there are some major problems with it. For one thing, it doesn't play WMV or H.264 as advertised, you need their supplied transcoder. I don't know if this model plays WMV either.

Then there's the bluetooth feature, which works fine, except the range is 5.5 feet without obstructions, but about 2 feet WITH obstructions. When I say "obstructions," I mean "your arm" or "your pocket." So if I try to walk with it, it cuts out constantly.

But the main problem is that the USB transfer (for photos, for example), is horribly slow. It takes about 50 minutes to transfer 200MB.

I'm selling mine. I'm sorry for the Koreans with this device.

I wouldn't be so sure.
Keep an eye on the new strategy whose gonna be implemented by the folks of Archos. It could be worth looking at Echostar(partnership with Archos)in the coming weeks.

Quick question: What is to prevent one from buying this (through an importer/friend) and hacking it to work in the US? I imagine it would only need new maps, right? do all GPS units use proprietary maps? If it's CE.Net 5, anyone could load a .net app on it and access the gps receiver.

Hello Everybody,

The first time I received an iubi sample i thought these people must be kidding. The unit was heavy bulky and the GUI of the unit was terrible. Then I received the iubi Blue after a few months and this thing is just amazing. The GUI is a bit buggy and needs some getting used to but the unit is OK. The firmware needs to worked on extensively to fix a lot of bugs. The screen is stunningly beautiful.

I can't wait to get my hands on the N4300.

Plus people in the US stop cpmplaining please you have a lot more than others so have the decency of not complaining please.
