Sanyo releasing PLV-Z5 LCD projector
Sanyo looks set to release a followup to its PLV-Z4 projector soon, with the shockingly-named PLV-Z5 bumping the specs in all the right areas -- or at least about as much as you can expect at this price point. Pumping out a 1280×720 resolution, this one promises a 7,500:1 contrast ratio, 1,100 lumens brightness, and a welcome second HDMI input in addition to the requisite line up of component (two of 'em, too), composite, s-video, and VGA. Look for this one to be available later this month in both black and silver variations for €1,799 (about $2,300).

WTF!
I was sure they were going to make the Z4 a 1920x1080 resolution projector.
I'll wait and see what Panasonic do with the PTAE (1100?) - Its about time for some budget 1080p LCD Projectors.

I'm sure that this reporting means 'dynamic contrast. Any in-scene contrast is going to be rather low (about 1500-2000 to 1). At this point one should start moving up from their budget projectors to a mid-level projector like the Pearl, or buy a decent recycled CRT projector with a DVI input solution.

unfortunately it looks like its not going to be 1080p. They're calling it PT-AX100.

I've got one of the earlier models and it is an amazing projector for the $. I Highly reccommend with no complaints. I can't say that about other projectors I've used or owned.

I have a Z4 and it's a great projector, one of the best out there for performance/$ ratio...

I just bought a Z5 but it shutdowns and lights up he warning light very now and then. After waiting a while and restarting it works like a charm for a while. Anyone any idea what could be causing this?
