Acer's TravelMate C210 12.1-inch tablet goes Core 2 Duo
If you woke up this morning craving a bit of Merom juice in a 12.1-inch tablet then check the TravelMate C210 from Acer. Like the C200, the "Vista Premium Ready" C210 features a sliding-track to easily move from slate-style tablet to keyboard mode. Inside you'll get a range of Intel's new Core 2 Duo procs, 256MB GeForce Go 7300 graphics, 802.11a/b/g WiFi, up to 4GB of DDR2 memory and 160GB "or higher" (whatever that means) disk, and fingerprint reader for a bit of security when left behind at happy hour. Slap in an optical drive and 6-cell battery and you're looking at a 5.5-pound tablet. Sorry, no ship date or price yet but you can expect this to cost about the same as the C200 it's replacing, or about $1900.[Via laptoping]

I love the concept of the C210, but cannot find where to get a decent close up picture / hands on, or even to buy the darn thing. Any ideas?
For those of you who cannot see it, this folding style is ideal for getting work done on an airplane or the back seat of a car where space is limited.
im looking for something like this for my next laptop, id rather have the sony TX in core 2 duo though. right now im using a large 17" hp desktop repalacement. i wanna get a desktop and a laptop this go round, so a fast 10-12 inch screen is what im looking for
Knowing Acer, it also has a 5 minute batery life.
I currently have the C204 and for those of you who are worried about the screen "not being protected", trust me when I say that you have nothing to worry about here. I was a bit worried about it too but honestly, the screen is the last of my worries as long as your careful and don't stack your entire desk on top of the tablet to see how much pressure the screen can stand.
The form factor is absolutely wonderful and great for switching between tablet and notebook mode very very quickly. It's so much more compact without a screen to turn around and even more mobile because of it.
Does anyone know what the resolution is on this new model? On my C204, I've got a GeForce Go 6200 video card and the resolution is 1024x768. While this isn't terrible, especially considering the screen size, a higher resolution would help get rid of some of the noticable pixelness of it.
My C204 is near perfect and I just got it back in June. However, there are three shortcomings of this model that are the reason I'm looking at the C210 and considering Ebay for my current model to upgrade. One is the video. It's great for gaming (I play World of Warcraft) at pretty good settings but the limit on the resolution leaves a bit to be desired. The processor (Pentium M 2.0GHz) is decent but sometimes struggles with my multi-tasking quite a bit and I think a dual core could help keep up a little better. Also, the hard drive speed (4200 RPM) is a little slow but also upgradable. If anyone has any more information on the C210, it'd be great to know.
Where can I buy this machine
Okay. I am extremely worried about the screen being damaged seeing as I am going to be using it for school and it may get knocked around a bit and am wondering wether I could get it repaired EASILY in AUSTRALIA. Also, what is all this comotion about battery life for Acer laptops?
I would also like to know whether there is another laptop alike this but in a different brand so I could compare the prices/and brand quality!?!
Regards
Tom
