Epson announces EMP-TWD3 projector with built-in DVD player
Epson has announced the latest in its line of projectors with built-in DVD players, the 3LCD-based EMP-TWD3 -- available on its own or bundled with a pull-down 80-inch screen. The projector itself is only a modest upgrade to the previous model, added an analog RGB input (D-sub 15 pin/component combined) to the mix, which includes 854 x 480 (480p) resolution, 1,200 lumens, and 1,000:1 contrast ratio. The projector also packs in a pair of speakers, which seem to account for much of it's size, though we're guessing few will be satisfied with the 10W they pump out. Look for this one to hit Japan September 21st for 150,000 Yen ($1,290), or 160,000 Yen ($1,375) for the package with the screen.[Via Impress]

Yes, but can you mount it on the ceiling upside-down? Or does the DVD fall out? Or do you even want to? Craptacular indeed.

#3: No, that's the MovieMate 25. What you see above is dubbed the MovieMate 30 in the US, and is brand new.
It's actually a very cool machine. I've used it, and it blows away its competition in nearly every respect. And the one you refer to that's "on clearance" at Sam's now was the best-selling home theater projector of last year, so it did quie well.

I saw the previous version of this all-in-one projector in the electronic dept of a Texas Wal-mart, it was priced around $800 and there were units being sold. It just makes me wonder who in their right mind would buy something like this at Wal-Mart unless they're planning to return it within 90 days.
