Overwhelmed with all the
latest Chocolate intel? Does your sweet tooth still want more? Well here you go.
Roc A Fella was able to smuggle out some marketing photos today and
let us tell you, she's quite a sweet phone. Expect external music controls (yep),
Bluetooth 2.0. microSD, a 1.3
megapixel camera, and V CAST music (1.2). Word on the street is that this one just
may come out this month. As we eagerly anticipate the newest edition to Verizon's lineup, we'll just have to wait and see as more details surface.
I think i'll get this phone considering i missed out on the Chocolate.
WHY DOES VERIZON KEEP RUINING THESE?!
http://www.engadgetmobile.com/2006/09/07/lgs-black-sapphire-mg810-chocolate-flip-phone-is-real/
THAT is how it should look like!
Let's hope that this Chocolate is a lot tastier than the first. So far though I'm glad I waited.
Doesn't look as sweet as the Black Sapphire pics.
Q stop being a jackass, VZW didn't do anything other than use their flash UI. The other picture is just a mere lighter version of it without a UI.
umm, will? I believe Q meant to compare the physical aspect of the phone(the silver lining), not what was on the screen...
Uhhh... he's not being a jackass... If you'd notice, the keyboard is quite a bit different, and it has lost a substantial amount of glossiness.
looks like a freaking samsung a900 with a square softkey instead of round
Hmmmm meh it's a LG therefore it is crap...
It will play tunes and blink lights better than it will make calls.
I'll stick with business class phones thanks
wait...doesn't the phone still suck?
Lg's swagger jacking of the Samsung MM-a900??
The Verizon’s phone is CDMA and the other phone is GSM… I think.
I don't care if it had 3.0, its still crippled!!!
Damn Verizon, you suck!
I'm going to be honest here, those pictures suck.. I mean the LCDs look so dim! I know that most likely it won't end up like that, but for marketing shots that should make it look desirable. And with those dark screens, no thank you.
Man......I still hate LG phones. Verizon still sucks. So you have LG+Verizon = Total Suckage!
some chocolate video: http://thenewsmarket.com/Newsroom/StoryDetails.aspx?GUID=cc6f94bc-6762-423a-9fe8-4e8f2eebdc56&CustomPage=0
people who are calling it shit are probably RAZR owners.
take it how you want to.
riggs, that's what I was thinking too
I personally think that looks pretty damn sweet (pun not intended).
It'd be even sweeter if it was one of those wee little phones though. I love small electronics.
I wish LG would take the whole "chocolate" thing and throw it over a fence for awhile, so that MAYBE they could focus on getting the VX9900 out already. Been waiting on that model since July, and I'm getting kinda pissed seeing them whore out this phone instead of the successor to The V, the only phone they made with a definite article in the name.
Ugh. Verizon gets all the interesting designed LG phones. Sprint gets one or 2 reasonably designed ones, that just don't quite meet muster. And the rest of the world gets extremely lovely GSM varieties. God Verizon and their 110% closed locked crippled crap should just go and die. I want a nice looking phone that I can put maybe 5 JAVA apps on. Hell, I actually like the Nokia 6256i that Verizon silently launched. Why? with a British made program YOU CAN ADD JAVA APPS TO IT. Dont believe me? http://jmirc.sourceforge.net/images/jmIrc-mikeh_vm4050-n6256i_2005_12_15.jpg
@riggs
personally i dont like RAZRs and have never owned on moto in my life, even an LG, with their poor quality i wouldnt touch one with a 10 foot pole. i own a nokia (nokia 6680) nokias are still the best in my opinion and on paper as well.
Actually i think the chocolates look a lot better than the stupid RAZRs. Its a good design and the good thing is LG isn't making 20 different phones for just one line unlike motorola
Looks ok I guess, but yeah, LG + Verizon is a bad, bad combo. Mostly Verizon, since they're the ones that take reasonably capable phones and take away any helpful features that they might have had. Sometimes so you'll pay for their stuff instead, but sometimes just so you can't do what the guy sitting in the Verizon store said you could do (seriously).
So it doesn't matter how much you like the way it looks, you should never buy anything from Verizon until they improve. That means no more crippling phones and flat-out lying to you about what you can do with them, and no more stupid DSL commercials saying that 768 kpbs is "high speed" and a gajillion times faster than 28k dialup. Ugh, I hate these guys.
So. Being a current Verizon customer(former sprint, former cingular), I can't remember being more satisfied with a service provider. Now, I'm a little biased because I like using phones for phone calls. I have to say that although Verizon "cripples" their phones, I've not picked up my phones ever and thought to myself "geez, if only i could use my phone as a modem". There isn't a video game or other application that I can't already use that I'd even want in the first place.
Now, for all of the trips I've taken, since being with Verizon I've finally been able to use my phone everywhere I go. I am now the go-to guy on company trips because everyone else is on t-mobile and sprint. Their sidekicks and treos won't call out on the mountain tops. I've got the VZ Navigator which is realtime GPS. Yeah, 10 bucks a month. Common Verizon practice of charging for anything and everything. For me, considering how much buying anything GPS related normally costs and the fact that I'll probably have my phone for a year before I trade it in, 120 bucks for GPS is good for me. For the record, I tried the Chocolate phone and I don't see how ANY carrier is going to make it a decent phone. The whole touch sensitive scheme is straight BS and not one feature is worth it's weight on that phone.
So speaking purely about providers, Verizon is good, and the rest aren't AS good but decent in their own areas. They are all scum when it comes to customer service.
@ riggs.....
Actually the RAZR is a piece of crap too. I am still using my S710a cause I cant find a phone that beats it.
Verizon has the best coverage. That is ALL that matters to me. I love when friends with a nice Sprint phone or a T-Mob sidekick have to borrow my ugly Samsung phone to make a call because they don't have reception.
It's nice to see that they are finally getting some attractive phones, again, too, when I got mine about a year and a half ago they were all hideous sliver flip phones. It's good to have options that aren't silver, at the very least.
I've had this phone for months, its called a LG U880 by any other name and it was originally a 3G phone released by Three world wide. Welll, maybe its a derivative, but it looks VERY similiar. Same music controls, same technical specs....nothing new here, move along.
I too get bored with Verizon's locked handsets, but these guys are telling you the truth, they are the best.
I've travelled everywhere, rural and urban areas, and I have had every major service for 1-2 years at a time, and nothing touches Verizon's network.
Yes, some have better service, and even coverage, in some areas (like Washington DC), and in those areas you may want something else. I'm just saying, an LG on Verizon is better than any phone on most other carriers when it purely comes to coverage, number of available circuits and voice quality.
Yea, that phone definitely does not look as good as the other one. I've had an LG VX6100 for two years now and it has worked great. LG makes decent phones, they truly aren't that bad. And Verizon, while they do cripple features and nickle and dime you for everything, have a fantastic network. I really thought about switching to Cingular this fall but what the hell is the point? Both sprint and verizon have deployed 3G a hell of a lot faster than Cingular. As for T-Mobile, well, they are fairly laughable as a national carrier for the most part. I dont care how good their customer service is, no one cares about the goddam PEBL or catherine zeta jones.
Hell, let's face it, if you want the carrier that is always going to have the coolest phones, you go with Cingular, but if you want the best network out there with a decent availability of phones, you're gonna go with Verizon. Sprint has terribly ugly phones and them getting the KRZR K1m later this year still doesnt help things because their network sucks and so does their reputation and more importantly, so do 95% of their ugly ass phones. The only good looking thing at Sprint is ironically, the logo. And I've already dissed Tmobile enough. Verizon has a great network and you have to give them credit for getting VCast off the ground so quickly. The call quality is a ton better than Cingular's and they offer a lot of extra things too. It's really easy to diss Verizon but how about you guys start dissing people who really need to be dissed, like Cingular for their pathetic 3g rollout?
