Obviously we're all a little underwhelmed that the
5.5G iPod isn't the true
video iPod we thought would be debuted with the movie store, but the screen is definitely brighter, those hard drives are definitely bigger, and you really just can't argue with a $50 drop in price. Or games, which cost a small chunk of change. But at least it's nice to know what you're getting yourself into here, and that's a 5G iPod with a 60% brighter screen.
Pac Man! Haww yeah.
Ok, so it was a little out of focus, but this is the new 30GB model. Unfortunately the 80GB wasn't around for size comparison, but we doubt it's any larger than yesterday's 60GB device.
This one's a personal favorite of our spammers.
yes i agree. with all the new fancy updates to iTunes its lagging like a pain. today's event was nothing more than a firmware update. very disappointing especially for those of us that live outside the US and don't have access to the iTunes store.
Now the only thing I need is an upgrade for my nano. If not, it would prove a highly disappointing media event. and i missed a good 4 hours of sleep just to watch the event on the day before my exams. lol.
guess what even i woke up before my physics exa for this !!! my parents thought that i was studyin .
The ads for the new ipod nano seem to imply that the click wheel is backlit. Anyone have a comment on this?
I think that since you can adjust back light they are probably refering to 3.5 with backlight at lowest possible setting
jPod... I don't think that they would release a new one right after this one cus then everyone would be pissed that they encouraged them to buy a new ipod and then they may loose customers cus of this. Then again I may be wrong they might do that. But it would be the smarter thing not to just yet.
For those with 4th gen iPods complaining about the gapless playback, it's a 5th-gen feature guys!
hey, I just bought a 30G video. How can I tell if it's 5th gen or 5.5 gen? It has a pic of U2 on one side and Demon Days on the other.
Whats on the cover of the new ipod 5.5 gen?
When/if apple release ipod 6G("the true video ipod") you will speak just like now - "i dont need new ipod because my plays video as well and blablablabla"
I just bought the latest ipod(my first one) and it has great features - you can play tv shows, animations and whatever stuff you like as well as games, it has brighter screen and longer battery life (which is most important, i think)
Ok now i used ~50 of my 80GB(mostly animations and other stuff i like) so if i decide to use PSP where im supposed to keep all this stuff? In memory Cards?Haha - here the 2GB models cost around $50 so if i want to keep all of my videos and music i should buy... uhmm... around 20 memory cards @_@
You cant just walk around the street and change memory cards trying to find some song etc..if i see this somewhere i will laugh very hard its just ridiculous.. With iPOD you can make on-the-go playlist with any available songs on your hard drive and play them when you want.
I dont know how im supposed to find my favorite tv episode on all these cards but lets check the price first.. 20 cards * 50$ = ...1000$ @_@ (and thats only half the size of my ipod hard drive)
If i order 10 * 4GB cards i will get similar prices and its still uncomfortably.
If you wanna game device - ok, buy PSP but dont tell me that apple suck and PSP is better than ipod.At this point i think PSP as game device cant be compared to ipod as media device.
Also i dont know why people who says "i dont need colors" write in this page anyway?
This 5.5G is great replacement of the old models for people who just decided to buy ipod.
Just stop complaining about never-promised features like widescreen, touchscreen or whatever the geeks dream about and buy creative zen or whatever you want.
Anyway i think iPOD 80GB is better than creative zen because it has over 2 times bigger hard drive, smaller screen but almost 2 times longer battery life,it have better controls, its cheaper, the zen weight alot more etc etc.The ipod doesnt support many formats, but you can download thousands of movies and tv shows from the itunes store.Everyone have opinion about that but i dont think this is the place where we should discuss it.
dave - there is pirates of the caribbean on the cover.
And finally few words to the poster:
The 80GB is the same as 60GB compared by size so you can use the old skins etc.
the ipod rocks the zen vision sucks and whoever up there thinks the ipod sucks because its not a huge touch screen thingy is dumb because they are never going to come out with one so you best stay happy with what you got.
Hey U ALL (Yup, I'm talkin' to you!)
I hear you all are the local iPod gurus in your neck of the woods. I'd like a piece of your mind. You can send it to P.O. Box... naaaah!
Just bought the 30G Video pod, Gen 5 (or is it 5.5?). Cool tool. Seeing the iPod tutorial for Mac, I'm confused about deleting files. Can't do it on the pod, I know. If I go to the pod's directory shown in iTunes, I can't select any tunes or podcasts cause they are greyed out-unselectable. If I want to get rid of podcasts (or reorder them, from old to new) is there another way to get rid of them or do I have to throw away the iTunes directory for that item. That's easy to do for podcasts (I can order them again, free), but I don't want to do that for music.
Isn't this supposed to be like a computer? You have a file on a drive, select it and delete it. Even unchecking my playlist in iTunes in iPod mode doesn't delete the file when it is updated. The guy who sold it to me on eBay said I had to restore any time I wanted to delete anything (just put what you want on the pod again, after it had been erased).
Please, ya all, tell me where I went south.
