You know that people are trying to jump on the iPod bandwagon when someone releases a
breathalyzer that connects to the ubiquitous music player. Yes, David Steele Enterprises (no, not that
David Steel) has just released an iBreath ($50, black or white color), a small device to plug into the dock connector of your
iPod. Sticking out of the side of the device is the breathalyzer tube, and within five seconds it'll read out your blood alchohol content level, accurate to within 0.01 BAC -- oh and if that wasn't enough, it doubles as an FM transmitter for your car stereo. That just leaves us with one burning question: will Mr. Steele be sending one to recently DUIed
Paris Hilton?

Hell yeah! I so need that. Best thing for the iPod since they added the ability to play music...
looks like's this thing can function without a ipod. so why do you need to stick it on that thing just for the radio??
power probably
Dutchie, I don't think it has an independent power supply, so you probably have to plug it in.
This is great! My little brother could really use this device; he just got his drivers license.
What's the bet someone will confuse the FM freqency with the BAC reading...
If the price is "$50", how come the link is selling it for $79?
Will they one up Nike + Apple, and synchronize music with your sobriety--with more rockin' music the more trashed you are?
Does this work with the nano, or just the gigantic ipods?
that is disturbingly stupid.
Would be nice for cops if it were more accurate. Give them an iPod and this. Increase DWI enforcement and they get something for doing it. I think it has some potential.
I would love it if i could up load this to something like the nike site. Set goals, compare with friends, see where i need to train more.
:-D
Where is the $50 model?
i'd buy one....college town cops are not your friends....

I guess it would be kewl to have a BAC tester, but why do you need it on your ipod? They have them for less than $10 on the net. http://www.dealextreme.com/details.dx/sku.16270~r.42575879
I have a friend that got one to randomly check his teenage son when he gets home from being out with his friends. It seems a little like an overbearing parent, but hey you have to keep an eye on them.
Their are many cheap breathalyzers being sold to consumers today. They all must be cleared by the FDA. i don't believe this one is. Further the technology used in the cheap ones is semiconductor technology which is far less reliable than that used by law Enforcement. You definately get what you pay for in a breathalyzer. Look for "fuel cell" technology, FDA cleared and experienced manufactuers.

This is definetely going to end up being a game you play with friends (see who can score the highest), rather than a useful tool. I think a better bet would be a keychain breathalyzer. I saw another review for the iBreath breathalyzer at: http://www.breathalyzerreview.com/index.php/review-ibreath-ipod-breathalyzer/
