Last minute Apple rumors roundup
Man, Steve really must have people in a tizzy, the rumor mill is still glowing bright even at two in the damn morning. Up today we have:- Apple New Zealand supposedly leaks 50GB / 80GB iPod dock adapter kit for Universal Dock system. Oook.
- TUAW has what could be (but probably isn't) Steve's itinerary, which highlights a new nano, widescreen video iPod, and the TubePort, a streaming home theater movie device that connects your TV to your computer via USB and grabs movies hosted by Apple.
- Core 2 Duo MacBook Pros, of course. (We were really trying not to say natch that time.)
- Updated nanos with larger capacities, battery lives, differing colors, and aluminum posteriors.
- iTunes 7 and 10.4.8 will be released.
- Ok, that's more or less it right now.
[Thanks, Graham & dawnraid]

What about the Playstation 3?
Jeff @ Sep 12th 2006 2:38AM
late breaking rumor - Apple event called off due to everyone already knowing what's going to happen.
Lou @ Sep 12th 2006 2:43AM
Uhm, Movie Store?
Keith L. Dick @ Sep 12th 2006 2:43AM
Yawn...
It's no longer really important these days...
cupertino @ Sep 12th 2006 3:05AM
No core 2 duo macbook pros. just yet at least.
No leopard either til at least november.
sorry kids.
Chris @ Sep 12th 2006 3:08AM
Well if they announce movies to download they'll also need to announce something decent to watch them on, be it a proper video iPod or some kind of streaming device for your TV.
Ransom @ Sep 12th 2006 2:08PM
No Core Duo 2's would be really retarded on Apple's Part. The price of switching to Intel is that Apple had better keep up with the PC's now.
Teddy-O @ Sep 12th 2006 3:16AM
I think that Apple will be in good shape if they do that much. I sort of expect the core 2 duo based MBPs might go at a special event or even just quitely replaced in the channel.
The rest would be nice, and not at all unreasonable. I might even be able to forgive Apple for not releasing any kind of non-iPod handheld device.
Taylor Aleander @ Sep 12th 2006 3:14AM
All I'll bet on is a movie store. I'd also bet against a full screen ipod, just because i know people want one too badly for it to be real...

24" iMac core duos now available at the Apple store!

Guess what, i heard this crazy roumor that steve jobs and Billy G would be battleing it out in a freaking debate, followed later casual drinks and the occasional bum touch.
Sai Krishna @ Sep 12th 2006 11:43AM
I would easily bet on the movie store, and probably a new iPod. But really, a new iPhone? Come on now, let's be seriousness here.
I really couldn't care less for any of this. Who's gonna pay $14.99 for a movie when it's cheaper to watch it in theatres? I just wish Apple would update their Macbook Pros!
quietboy @ Sep 13th 2006 5:28AM
Um er, Robpod who posted this has now admitted that the webpage was fake. he is impressed that he made the headlines on engadget.
Frogmella @ Sep 12th 2006 5:43AM
Whoah, now this is REALLY cool! Thanks for the heads-up Engadget! Steve's called the Event to announce 10.4.8. I've been waiting for that for, like, eight years ever since my dot matrix's parallel port stopped working with my Mac IIx. Way to go, Steve-O!
kalmbach @ Sep 12th 2006 10:27AM
What about the Core 2 "Quadro" which is supposed to be released next month?
Afiba @ Sep 12th 2006 7:28AM
TubePort who said its called TUBEPORT the product is called TelePort.
Bobby @ Sep 12th 2006 7:30AM
My Guess: Shake Sucessor and upgrades to 'Pro' Line. Perhaps a new animation suite?
Jeff @ Sep 12th 2006 7:34AM
I don't know about anything else, but I do know the iTunes movie store is coming. But be prepared to be disappointed, people, just as you were with Amazon's offering. I'm talking hardly any selection and relatively high prices.
Of course, the music store didn't start off with 2 million tracks either, so they could bulk it up over time, provided they end up still thinking it's worth it six months from now.
Alasdair Allan @ Sep 12th 2006 7:38AM
The TUAW agenda almost convinced me, but I've changed my mind. The price plan for the purported Movie Store doesn't make sense, and the TubePort sounds like an in-elegant hack by Apple standards. The most convincing point? The security around one of these events, I just can't believe the entire agenda could leak out, it'd be a first...

Shunnabunich @ Sep 12th 2006 7:44AM
Sheesh, you guys are missing the biggest product announcement they're making: since the iPod is already a fashion accessory in and of itself, Apple is entering the fashion market while simultaneously poking fun at their own CEO. Look at this leaked marketing image about to go up on their website!!

A reader embedded in this thing's docking cradle reads the oils on your finger, then your Mac or PC uses that data to formulate the fragrance which perfectly complements your natural pheromones. The fragrance is combined on-the-fly within the unit from a cartridge of component chemicals, and sprayed out the front with a touch of the sensor on top there. Hell, I'd get it if they're selling it in Canada...
This one's for you. What's YOUR scent?
Shunnabunich @ Sep 12th 2006 7:58AM
Also, Odada: looks fake, but I'd probably RUN out and get it if that were real. ;)

The iTunes Store is being updated.
My local time here is 7:40am CDT
Wonder what they are up tooo! huh
js @ Sep 12th 2006 8:46AM
That phone from Odada looks super cool but it'll be an mac with windows/office/... pre-installed. The MS-Mac or MacMS.
Heresy, I know
flipper @ Sep 12th 2006 8:47AM
Very dull list if that's all it is. Limited movies that will be in the US only no doubt. Minor ipod upgrades. Device that streams bad quality video. Hmm. Come on - where's our apple tablet/touchscreen device? It's gonna be UMPC for me at this rate, unless my ibook lasts for 5 more years until they release one.
tsik @ Sep 12th 2006 8:48AM
down are also german and uk store..sans musik :)
Lus @ Sep 12th 2006 9:35AM
The Germans have made already an update to the quicktime page and added Itunes Videos on the left down corner. http://www.apple.com/de/quicktime/mac.html
rk @ Sep 12th 2006 9:25AM
the store is down, and note it says the "Itunes Store" is being updated, not the official name "Itunes Music Store"
hmm
JimD @ Sep 12th 2006 10:29AM
Notice how it says SHOWTIME...The iTunes Store is Down and NOT iTunes MUSIC Store is down?
Hmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm.....guess they are getting rid of the music part now that we'll also have movies.
Sam @ Sep 12th 2006 11:18AM
No core 2 duo macbook pros.

Steve Jobs "We are now announcing brand new IPOD socks. Now in 32 different colors. Thanks for comming see ya next year."
fab123 @ Sep 12th 2006 11:22AM
At the bottom of the Swedish Quicktime page there is a list of downloadable music videos. The strange thing is that the videos listed are proper movies (Transporter 2, Enigmo 2…).

Let's see Apple get all crazy innovative, and just create a touchscreen phone w/ bundled bluetooth;
Plays Video (with a widescreen)/music/ and, works as a phone :p
But with a big screen comes protective gear, more of those apple condoms :p
Gary Tate @ Dec 2nd 2006 6:06PM
hmmmm using 10.4.8 and ITunes 7 now........LOL
