Cinetron's new HD-900 LCoS projector brings more 1080p love
We're not going to lie: 1,920 x 1,080 pixels is just a dang sexy spec, and we sure don't mind seeing it show up in a well-designed box like this here Cinetron HD-900. The LCoS projector pumps out 1000 lumens and a 6000:1 contrast ration with its trio of 1080p chips. Sadly, there's no HDMI to be had here, but other connection options, including DVI, are well represented. Under the hood the HD-900 is running a Realta HQV processor, for 10-bit processing of SD and HD signals. The best news, however, is the $6,000 pricetag, which ain't bad at all for what you get. We should be seeing this one in the US this October.

yes that is a good price for what you get... however, without hdmi is seems pretty much worthless imho. if you're buying an hd projector in this day, you're most likely going to want to watch some HD cable and some HD DVDs.

Unless you go for HDMI 1.3 (which not many are), DVI is just as fine for a projector since you will not be routing your audio to it; go out and buy an adapter.
For 5k, you can get the new Sony Pearl projector.

This projector could easily give you a great picture at 100 inches.
A 100 inch Plasma is going to run you about $65,000.
How about them apples?
Also, this one won't weigh 200 lbs. either, even with screen.
And you can take this one outside and project a great
picture on the side of a good size barn. Do that with a plasma, buddy.
As for HDMI, you can buy an adapter for HDMI to DVI for $50.
So if you have a Mac or PC with DVI out and an optical audio out,
you've got your HDMI connection covered. The thing that's
interesting to me is, when all of us were promoting firewire
because it was everything on one cable, nobody would listen.
Now, HDMI is promoted as the holy grail and it really isn't.
It's an SDI-HD connection, but only 2 channels of audio,
not up to 12 like SDI-HD. And it "features" DRM.
Oh, goody.

The styling looks oddly like an Intellivision.

What's the point of 10-bit processing, when DVI is limited to 8-bit? Bring on the HDMI.

I am using this projector for 4 months. It is a great machine and Cinetron had already change DVI to HDMI connector. The price is a bit high but the building quality and picture quality is worth every penny! Watch the demo yourself to make a judge!
