Fujitsu FPcodes, like QR without the mess
You just forget everything you know about that QR coding qrap 'cause Fujitsu just went next-gen with the introduction of FPcodes. Like QR codes, Fine Picture codes allow you to photograph the code with your trusty cameraphone and then be redirected to a URL for the product. However, instead of looking like a greasy black smudge, the pale yellow FPcode is printed directly onto the image of the product, just snap the product and off you go. FPcode-printed catalogs and magazines are expected to be released as early as October and require the download of a free app to use. Now considering we don't even have QR implemented yet, we'll call you daddy on this one Japan.

This is just dumb.
The whole point of QR is knowing "how to interact" with the "call to action".
How would you even know a Fujistu FP code is "in the image" like where would you actually focus the camera etc.
Understanding "expectations" is key to QR's success.

Looks like Shotcode (http://www.shotcode.com/) beat them both by several months...
It's amazing how much QR codes are integrated in Japan. You'll find them in magazines, websites, billboard, trains, graffiti, etc... I wouldn't be surprised if someone has a QR tattoo.
Dude, you're a moron. Google QR Code, welcome to 5 years ago. Shot codes is the pathetic western attempt at QR, FPCodes are completely different.
And before all of that was Digimarc. they had a technology that encoded a watermark in an image and would take you to a website. this was all way before phones had cameras in them though and you had to use a webcam attached to a pc. the only magazine i ever saw it used in was popular mechanics. it was a cool idea way ahead of its time.
I like how they use a Sharp 903 phone.
I wonder if taking a picture of the girl will take me to a dating site or her myspace site?
Whaddayamean not implemented?
