Known for their
ReadyNAS network server, Infrant is making a move for your living room with the Reportoire Digital Media Servier for home theaters. The Repertoire, like their ReadyNAS, features an X-RAID array of Seagate DB35 DynaPlay-enabled hard drives and comes in both 2TB and 3TB versions for $3,999 and $4,999, respectively. Also inside the machined aluminum case is a gigabit network port along with out-of-the-box support for Windows MCE, InteracTV, Squeezebox and
Transporter, Sonos, as well as the Windows, OS X, UNIX, and Linux Operating systems (though the latter-most is most likely made possible because of a browser-based interface). While we haven't had a chance to play with the thing yet, the specs look nice; the price, however, is questionable for the high-end averse, and the unit's usability has yet to be proven.

Clearly you don't know either Linux or the Infrant range very well.
Rather than being limited, as you imply, Linux is richly supported on the Infrant range, with SMB/CIFS support for legacy Windows systems as well as NFS, ftp, rsync, and http, all of which are available by default to most Linux users.
Of course all of this rich rupport is only possible because the Infrant devices themselves run Linux.
Perhaps you aught to acquaint yourself with the technology first before making disparaging statements about it.

you should have said "BITCH!" at the end of that.

Yes I agree that's not a way to end a report. I have 23 ReadyNAS running out over my 9 client networks and have had hardly any issues especially compared to the Dell Storage problems I used to have. I've been working with them since they started the ReadyNAS and for the money, quality and UP time you can't beat these setups. I've been testing one of these new units for 2 weeks and it works just as well as their other units.
Josh...If it's worth mentioning in your article how about not downplaying the device in the end because it is new to you. Everyone could have benefit by you eliminating your last run-on sentence.

Lighten up Keith. Not everyone is ass tuned into Linux's capabilities as you. Not everyone is an expert on everything like you.

Well then people shouldn't make statements on subjects they clearly know nothing about.

One of the downsides of Webforums is that they're open to "Muppets" who disparage technology which they clearly don't understand. Can anyone think of how a "Muppet Filter" could be engineered? :-)
I am grateful for web forums and "Big Dongle" should be grateful that "Keith Milner" know what he's talking about. If sufficient people give informed input, then you start to get a useful and true picture. You also learn stuff!
P.S. Can anyone suggest where I can find instructions on how to load Slimserver to an Infrant TS-100 (or the QNAP TS-101). It seems that Infrant are a bit protective about releasing this information. Perhaps it's something to do with the fact that retailers get to charge a £100 premium for the Slimserver enabled version.
