Treo 750v review roundup
While we in the US sit sadly, sans Treo 750v, the first round of reviews and hands-on are coming in from Europe on what may be one of the sexiest smartphones around. Everyone's got a hands-on or review of some kind, and we're sure that you're far too busy tapping out SMSes to read 'em all, so we're going to boil 'em down for you. Treonauts enjoys the lighter weight (15 percent, its says) on the new 750v, and the folks at Shiny Shiny point out that some users may actually miss the now-gone antenna as some folks used it to grip whilst retrieving the phone from a pocket or purse. Pocketinfo has a lengthy review (with some very large photos) and likes it overall, but laments the lack of WiFi and a better cam. Finally, CNET weighs in as well with its minute-long video, and digs the rubberized exterior -- something that we had to add on previously with those adhesive egrips stickers. Enjoy your new Treos, European Vodafone subscribers, because remember: here in the States, our Treos still all have stub antennas whether we like it or not.Read - Shiny Shiny

It was funny news some time ago, when several US & Asian mobile phone producers with lots of excitement spoke about enlightenment they have concerning European market: europeans do not buy phones with external antennas. It took them about a decade to figure that out.
Seems like still under the excitement they have finally made a smartphone suitable for European market.
P.S. Not sure who got the Treos - vodafone.de does offer no Treos at all. Nor it is available on price matching sites (geizhals.at is silent). Well it is listed on palm.com/de - but w/o price or anything.
You can pre-order it gtom Vodafone UK: http://www.vodafonebusinessshop.co.uk/index.cfm?fuseaction=Phones.productdetails&menuactive=1&mnuid=2&sbmid=2.1&prodid=2869
When is this coming to the usa
wow like the new comment system hate the right side of the page though but yah gotta take the good with bad i guess. Ohh and this shits the bomb hopefully comes to cingular with palm OS
Someone please tell me if we're ever going to see a gsm treo 700p?!
Yup - its a Treo - just as ugly as ever.
Wow. Windows Mobile, huh? Hmmm...I guess I could trade in my 700p for something like this, when it comes to the US, or maybe get one imported.
Then again...I could also stab myself in the eye with a red hot soldering iron.
I'm sorry but I can't get over the 240x240 pixel screen. :(
Even standard non-smartphones these days come with QVGA screens and some of Nokia's higher end models go even higher (416x356?).
I know Windows Mobile is limited to certain resolutions (240x240 and 480x480), but using a device with such a low screen resolution would be a massive step back for me. :(
Windows Mobile is NOT limited to certain resolutions, and certainly not 240x240 and 480x480. That was Palm's decision -- and even 320x320 (for the Palm version) was a major screw-up. Microsoft intended for Windows Mobile to use QVGA or VGA and specifically tried to sway manufacturers away from odd resolutions.
Read more about it here, straight from Microsoft: http://blogs.msdn.com/windowsmobile/archive/2006/02/14/531972.aspx
no wifi give me a freaking this is the year 2006!
Isn't "straight from Microsoft" an oxymoron? All I know is that I don't want to downgrade to Windows Mobile nor to any rez below 320x320!
too bad for the CDMA users this baby is all GSM. and i've seen pictures of this phone using cingular firmware.
Well jay. No...it doesn't have wifi on it. However, neither does the computer I am on now. I really do not miss it, because of the fact that it has an internet connection via the cable modem located roughtly 3 feet away from it. My phone also does not have Wifi. And I don't really miss it, because it likewise has a highspeed infrastruture-grade connection. (actually it's on par with ADSL based on the bandwidth tests I've done.)
So...while you're driving around with your cantenna, trying to find a Starbucks that forgot to turn WEP, I'll be laughing at you...
by golly, how can you phone have a speed that is "on par with ADSL based on the bandwidth tests I've done.)".
Is it directly connected to your modem or something?
How does this compare with crackberry 87xx?
What I find interesting if the price of 127.66 pounds, or about $240 US. And the 700p will set you back $399 with a two year contract and $549 for a one year contract - all of this from Verizon. Cingular currently only offers the 650 at a price of $399 with a $200 online discount.
I Think palm Treo 700w is much better

Just bought one of these in the Vodafone shop and have binned my Tytn and my Smartphone. This is awesome. Treo have blown me away and I am going to email them today to tell them so.
I am a serial windows phone user in both the smartphone and PPC variety and I cant believe how this ticks so many boxes.
Weight is OK
Build Quality is awesome
Size is nice. Its the same size as a Tytn but feels half due to its shape
Camera pictures are better than Tytn despite less resolution
Phone is great
Keyboard is pretty accurate
One handed operation has been thought out.
One gripe is that it doesnt have a mini usb charger connector but I can live with that. I will buy some more chargers!
If you are considering a qwerty device then this cannot be beaten. I have not tried a Q but I have had a Samsung I320.
