Introducing Engadget HD!

Well, the new Engadget isn't the only thing we're unveiling this week. We're very proud to announce the birth of our latest spin-off, Engadget HD, where we'll have obsessive coverage of everything related to high-definition.
For Engadget HD we're teaming up with the amazingly talented bloggers of HD Beat. We've been working closely with them since last year, and it just made sense to go all the way and not only relaunch HD Beat under the Engadget brand, but to fully integrate the editorial teams (like we've done with Engadget Mobile). The result should be fuller and more comprehensive coverage of all things HD, with Engadget continuing to hit all the major announcements and Engadget HD going in-depth in a way that isn't possible on the main site. They'll also be writing about stuff like home theater and high-end audio gear that we've always wanted to have better coverage of on Engadget.
To kick off the site we're giving away a bunch of HDTVs over at Engadget HD. Details in a short few, stick close!

How about Engadget Robo (for all things robo). That should freeup some of your writers and space on the site. Dont forget Engadget Apple ( for all things Apple). Apple fangirls would love that.
Robert @ Sep 22nd 2006 4:16PM
yea i think that is a great idea make an Engadet Apple so all the "fan girls " go somewhere else. and write "the ipod is the best, etc, trash microsoft...)
Joey S. @ Sep 22nd 2006 4:46PM
What an ignorant comment. It may be annoying to you that others are pleased with their ipod and bash microsoft, but I see just as many people bashing Apple and the ipod. This is engadget, not PC or Microsoft weblog. There IS a stricly Apple blog already, but that doesn't mean that Engadget shouldn't cover Apple news.
Alex M @ Sep 22nd 2006 4:35PM
Weblogs Inc already make Engadget Apple
It's just called The Unofficial Apple Weblog

It's a pretty cool site. Right theme for me so I'll be over there a lot now.
Oh and just the greatest contest to get it all started.

Guys, seriously, you will have to do a competition for those of us not fortunate to live in the USA very soon.
FC @ Sep 22nd 2006 5:08PM
Ooh, another giveaway
It'd be nice if autoblog started giving away cars next week just so they dont feel left out
Billy Bob @ Sep 22nd 2006 5:43PM
I personally like all my news in 1 place- so i dont like the idea of having to go to yet another web site
Tek @ Sep 22nd 2006 7:13PM
I like the Engadget blog (having found out about it just over a month ago) and it's nice to see a spin-off dedicated to one of my recent obsessions: HD and HDTVs!
Vasco @ Sep 22nd 2006 7:19PM
Seriously, I wish you guys would stop with all the spin-offs and just keep all the news in one place.
I know its exciting and fun to have lots of websites, but I like my news in one place.
Joe Schmoe @ Sep 22nd 2006 7:35PM
Yeah, it's definately a lot of work to look at multiple websites. I'm too lazy/dumb to do it, can you just stuff everything I want into a single page? Also I'm too dumb to use rss readers, so even though they can collect all my news into a single page, don't bother trying to suggest that.
ruben @ Sep 22nd 2006 7:40PM
so HDbeat is no more?
Pfft @ Sep 22nd 2006 8:48PM
I got to agree with Vasco. I'd rather it all in one place.
Jason Calacanis @ Sep 23rd 2006 1:36PM
The goal of Engadget Mobile and EngagetHD is to go waaaaaaay deeper into the subjects. Engadget does 40-50 posts a day, and each these two sites do 15 posts a day. If we put those posts onto Engadget you would be looking at 80 posts a day--like CES level!
That would burn most people out I think...
I'm with Peter and Ryan that HD stuff should be spun out. If you don't have an HD TV you really don't care what's on in HD tonight... if you do have an HD TV (and I just got one) all of a sudden that really matters.
stattipps @ Oct 5th 2006 6:29AM
My favorite HD program is a toss-up between 24 and Lost.
I sure have trouble finding the pathway to enter the contests....this is my first experience with this website.

Engadget HD is looking good to my eyes. =D
