Sirius Stiletto 100: the rest of the story
We've been all over the place with this Sirius Stiletto 100 portable player, with rumored specs a'flying, a launch window stretched to the limit, and even a bit of RIAA drama. We still don't have an actual launch date -- that would be too easy -- but we've got the info on just about everything you could care to know about the little player, thanks to a conveniently "live" official site for the player. Of course, you've probably already heard the basics by now: live satellite radio, 802.11b WiFi (with WEP and WPA support), a purtiful screen (2.2-inches at a QVGA res) and a good helping of storage (turns out to be 2GB of NAND flash) for live radio recording and for pre-loaded PlaysForSure action. Now we've got the nitty gritty. The player comes with dual batteries out of the box, a standard version that makes the unit measure 1-inch thick in total, and powers 4 hours of satellite radio, 8 hours of Sirius Internet Radio (over WiFi) and 20 hours of library playback, along with a slim version that trims things down to 0.72-inches, but halves all those battery scores. As for other dimensions, the Stiletto measures 4.6-inches tall, 2.1-inches wide and weighs 5.6 and 4.6 ounces with standard and slim batteries, respectively. There's also a set of antenna headphones, earbuds and a PC sync cable included in the box. Sirius, of course, has a whole complement of accessories for the player, including vehicle and home docking kits, and a Stiletto Executive System dock with built-in speakers. We're still holding out for a September release date here, so start prepping your $350 for this fall's satellite hotness.

Actually, the date is posted, sorta. :)

Sirius's online store is claiming shipments starting Oct 4. You may find Crutchfield.com and TSS-Radio.com may get them sooner however. Sirius uses a 3rd party to fulfill their web orders.
I want now, Im bored of my ipod plus I need me howard stern!!!!
1" thick? I suppose it's acceptable on a portable wifi-enabled device such as this, but I really would love to see it thinner.
cool. I would get this if it were a little cheaper
Anyone know if the PC/USB cable will charge the thing? 4 hours ain't gonna cut it and I don't want to have to bring the AC everywhere I go.
comes with ac adapter but 2 batteries. look up the fcc doc to see it
For cheaper the SL10 should be coming a month or so from release of this one. It should be something like 100$ less, have 10 hours or music storage (no mp3/wma), No Wifi, but it will get a signal from the sats.
We may see rebates eventually too, don't know though.
If I recall the PC could charge the S50, so hopefully that's the case with this.
The mini battery is half the time of the standard battery, both come with the kit. So you have potential of 6 hours of live playback and up to 30 hours of stored playback between both batteries. The WiFi streaming lasts longer than the live playback too.
I hope the charging cradle will charge standard batteries. I'd personally probably want 2 standard batteries so I'd buy a second standard one instead of using the mini.

This is really cool, I will have to get me one of these.
Can not wait
Looks great I might be tempted to add this as my second radio.
only live broadcasting thru wifi??? i guess i wont be using this at the gym...or anywhere else..i mean, what would the fun be if the places i can hear sirius is at starbucks, cafes..i'd spend aobut 5 minutes to get my order and that would be the end of my live broadcasting. do we really want to go thru the trouble of finding a wifi spot? this is not worth having. im not gonna spend 4 hours at starbucks or any free wifi related cafe just to hear howard stern live. i might as well just sit in my car and listen to it where ever i go and without having to find a free wifi spot. this thing blows.
XM's Inno and their radio content put sirius to shame. Give me a stiletto and I will just put it in the garbage.
I dont know if you have heard or not, but XM stinks.
more like Jack Johnson has been deleted!
Hek - It supports Live broadcast through Wifi AND through the satellites AND playback of recorded stuff, AND Mp3/wma files.
It supports 4 hours of Live off the sats *OR* 8 hours via Wifi.

I wonder if you have to subscribe to that new rip off webstream they started offering in order to use the WiFi on this unit. I am 99% sure they are not going to let you webstream audio from some of the free internet radio sites.
That being said I still prefer the Inno and the Helix over this unit just based on form factor alone.
Am I the only person still waiting for Sirius and XM to come out with their promised hardware interoperability, before signing on to satellite radio?
Anyone know if there will be an accessory armband or clip for running? I already ordered it and can't wait for it to show up, but my main purpose is to use it while working out.
Yes ARTIFEX, you are. You may as well sign up for Sirius because if things keep going the way they are, XM will either be bought up by Sirius or out of business in a few more years.
