PSP Double Expand gives you two memory slots on the ugly
Our PSP Fanboy brethren seem to be rather offended by the idea, but while this new "PSP Double Expand Memory Converter" isn't quite the slickest solution of all time, we're kind of liking the dual memory slots it offers up. The adaptor plugs into your regular Memory Stick slot, attaches to the back of your PSP, and offers up a pair of SD/miniSD/MMC/Memory Stick slots. It's also dirt cheap, at a mere $16.77 US, so if you can get over the clunky method (which is diagrammed after the break) then you can, um, do whatever you'd do with two memory slots instead of one -- for cheap.

Wow, that is pretty ugly but, very cool and very useful none the less!
Jordan Roth @ Sep 28th 2006 1:04PM
If only someone came out with one of those SD cards...
kevin @ Sep 28th 2006 1:08PM
So, would this work for those of us unfortunate enough to own Sony's older failed memory standard, the MemoryStick? I know the MSDuo cards will plug in to MS sockets. I have a Clie TH55 in which I'd love to install a larger memory stick, but the older standard is hard to come by. If I could just plug this in and use cheaper SD cards, I'd be willing to put up with the ugly.

this is pretty good since i still have my 32MB memory stick on my psp.. and i have a 2gb and a 1gb SD cards layin around the house. sweet now i can play N64 games on my psp
Magus @ Sep 28th 2006 1:11PM
wow that is horrible.
WHen i first saw it i thought that it would at least close or retract that ribbon cable...
gadgetmike @ Sep 28th 2006 1:26PM
Yeah it's ugly but it's all Sony's damned fault to begin with. The f'in PSP should have a hard drive....period....and I know why they didn't do it, but they should have, would've destroyed the market for a bunch of the other PMPs, even taken a chunk out of the video iPod's market share. Proprietary memory standards....BAH...when will they learn?
shon @ Sep 28th 2006 1:41PM
ugly, but for that price (and the price of SD cards), seems like a decent solution till they get it together and puta freakin HDD innit.
Alexander @ Sep 28th 2006 1:45PM
Why can't companies get it right? I mean, it's not like the PSP hardware is going to change drastically if/when they ever release a new version of the console/handheld...
I mean, make it fit perfect on the back, and have an extended battery inside it.
James @ Sep 28th 2006 1:53PM
Haha at first glance I thought it was a model train set!
patrick @ Sep 28th 2006 1:56PM
I have one of those 8 in 1 NEO pads and I love it. I know it cost more than this "thing" but I guess you get what you pay for. The one I have uses all the types of cards I need. Also it makes the PSP very comfortable to use since it has handles and it looks a heck of alot better than this.
nick @ Sep 28th 2006 2:39PM
Sweet.. now i can use my vast supply of SD cards for my psp and not have to go and shell out a bunch of money for more duos.... huzah for roms!
Neil @ Sep 28th 2006 3:05PM
Good idea, but poor engineering/design. I'd pass on this one.
Paul @ Sep 28th 2006 4:05PM
Well, it looks like the cable is rigid, so so can flex it into a position and it will then hold that position. I don't really see how you can do this much more conveniently.
dave @ Sep 28th 2006 6:07PM
check the 8 in one smemory adapter/battery pack on neoflash.com
its considerably more expensive, but lets you rejuice your psp with AA batteries, offers CF, SD and MS slots, and snaps right on to the back of the psp, adding ps2 controller-like grips.
JamesB @ Sep 28th 2006 8:34PM
But does this work on devices other than a psp? Like my TV?
Brendon @ Sep 28th 2006 8:43PM
As if the PSP wasn't bulky enough already. At that price it could actually sell some, though.
Yukisho @ Sep 28th 2006 9:29PM
Sorry but it will not work. The PSP can only read a single memory stick. Not two at a time. Sorry but nice try.
Deluxe @ Sep 28th 2006 11:45PM
Yes, let's just advertise and sell a product that clearly doesnt work? Obviously an alternative solution has been found.
Andrew Damin @ Sep 28th 2006 11:35PM
i dont know maybe but WHERE DO YOU GET ONE!!!
brooke r. @ Sep 29th 2006 2:27AM
go go gadget mem-expander!
Wun Chiou @ Sep 30th 2006 10:22AM
Neo also has a memory adapter that looks and connects exactly like this, except it adds a CF/microdrive slot too. Check out the Mini 4-in-1 PSP convertor on ic2005.com.

This item looks good,
I have a digital camera that takes SD cards, i want to use the Dragon PSP Double Expand Memory Converter to then connect that SD to the PSP, will it be able to read from it or will it have to formatted with the directory format of the memory sticks.
So can i just put the SD card from my digital camera in to the psp converter and look at my pics on the psp screen?
Karan Shah @ Jan 30th 2007 11:45PM
Does anyone know of a sleeve for microSD cards that would mimic a pro duo card? need it for my phone.
SteveMB @ Nov 24th 2007 2:49AM
You can not get a Memory Stick Pro Duo to microSD adapter, but you CAN get a microSD to Memory Stick Pro Duo adapter.
gonzo @ Nov 3rd 2008 10:36PM
How do you use both slots at the same time instead of just using slot A only.
