LRG limited edition Sidekick 3 surfaces
T-Mobile promised there'd be at least a couple different limited edition versions of the Sidekick 3 when they announced the phone this past summer, and it looks like one is due out soon. Reader Andy scanned this pic from the November issue of XXL magazine that shows a green version of the SK3 from Lifted Research Group. No word on pricing (or a release date), but T-Mob charged a premium for those limited edition Sidekick II's, so expect this one to cost at least fifty bucks more than the regular version.

In my opinion, T-Mobile needs to update their firmware to give us sk3 users what we're missing before they focus on marketing limited editions of it. For example, uncripple bluetooth and let us load our own mp3 ringtones for starters.

WOW THATS SICKK

Why would they want to let you do that when they can charge you for them?
I think that's probably the biggest problem/conflict with cell phone companies right now. They're interest is always going to be in doing everything they can to force people to buy content through them, rather than letting you put it on yourself.

They could charge $10 for the ringtone loader and i bet they'd make a buttload more than if they only limited you to their ringtone content. For example, i've purchased 1 ringtone for $1.99 and that's it. If a ringtone loader was available for $10, i'd buy it in a heartbeat. They just made $8 off me that they won't make otherwise. I can't imagine I'm the only person with that mentality.

eww.. that thing looks gross! seriously it looks like they where lookin at a babies diaper when they chose that color

I've been wearing LRG since they started and now it's really big. I hope this doesn't even make them bigger... Okay, I'm in denial, it will.
I had an SK1 and went through 10 of them in 6 months. They were very limited. They need to add more features, but for a true AIM device, it shines.

That thing is butt ugly

talk about l-r-g selling out.. businesses are here to make money, but to somewhat go against company culture and pull out something like this is just kinda.. err.. not good i guess.. for one of the last companies to stay true to their roots has gone corporate.. but it's a world that moves around with money, so i dont' blame them at all i guess.

i'm sorry... why are people buying crippled sidekicks that you can't even load ringtones onto. save up an extra $100 and go get get urself a pearl or a treo 650 and swap your sim cards. A treo 650 on ebay has to dirt cheap by now and even though it came out almost 2 YEARS it still has more functionality than any sidekick out. @ PX: There are thousands of applications you could throw on a treo no prob. some even for free.
json @ Oct 2nd 2006 1:51PM
i meant for free ringtones
irie @ Oct 2nd 2006 4:15PM

Zae @ Oct 15th 2006 1:15PM
Just my .02 I dont like the color at all. Maybe if it was a different green or had a bit more contrast in its color scheme. I dont know, i think LRG could have done a lot better... actually I KNOW they could have done better. The thing looks way too toy like.(sidekick 3 limited fisherprice edition) I also agree with the peeps who were talking about the crippled or limited blue tooth i would much rather load my own mp3 or music onto my sidekick instead of having to choose from some of their crap and very limited music selection. Come on side kick people pay an arm and a leg and sometimes would prolly pay more for the device why not listen to the people.
