We came to town, we saw a teensy bit (namely the immediate area near Jillian's and Fenway), and about 400 of you guys showed up to totally conquer the Engadget reader meetup Boston. We know you'd have probably come out even if we didn't hand out free shirts, beer tickets, and have major giveaways from such great sponsors as Sonos, Sling Media, and Slim Devices -- but it didn't hurt, right? Big thanks for everyone who hung out, chatted it up, knocked one back, and generally made us feel at home. We're not sure when we'll next be back to Boston, but hopefully it'll be sooner than later!
P.S. -Loads more pics after the break!
P.P.S -For those former meetup goers feeling nostalgic, the other events are

We hear that line stretched all the way to Fenway. Um, like, outside.

A good time was evidently had by all. Those of us on the other side of the globe wait patiently for your kind visit to Japan, the apparent epicenter of things tech.

Thanks for putting this together.
I had a lot of fun. The free beer was nice too.
Hope you guys come back and do it again.

Does anyone know the brand of white probably powered speakers used by slim devices to show off their gear. They are pictured above in several photos.
Carl @ Oct 3rd 2006 10:00AM
I was the Squeezebox owner and fan running the Slim Devices demo unit at the meetup. They were AudioEngine V5 (?) speakers (www.audioengine.com).

Great pics, it was a very fun way to end an awesome conference. I'm glad I was able to help out!

I was about to say, any girl there had her pick of the litter, as it were. Which is not to be unexpected. Any trip to Akihabara to see the otaku (nerds) hanging out generates about the same male/female proportions.
I second the above statements on coming to Japan. Get over here and us gaijin will show you a good time.

I've been waiting for this post to come around. Thanks for hosting this great get-together. Thanks for the Nintendo DS that I won - although that forced me to go out and buy $100 worth of games this weekend!
Come visit Boston any time!

FYI: I'm pretty sure that both pairs of O ROKRs that were given away are now on craigslist and ebay. should have given them to me!
Joe @ Oct 3rd 2006 9:33AM
I wanted to go, but I couldn't make it unfortunately. Is this a prelude to an Engadget tour? If so, any chance of coming back to Boston?
Rustyreggae @ Oct 3rd 2006 9:39AM
It would be great to see you guys in London.
Dave @ Oct 3rd 2006 9:48AM

My friend and I drove from Augusta, Maine to attend this meeting and we were not disappointed in the least. It was fun to meet new people who shared the same interests and were able to learn a new few things from. As I felt weird being one of like 10 females, it was easier to find someone to talk to. I hope that you come back to Boston and maybe closer to Maine...Love the site
