Another Panasonic AVCHD 1080i camcorder
CEATEC is pumpin' out the HD goods fast and furious now. Here's the latest AVCHD camcorder prototype from Panasonic. Although clearly different from the first Panny AVCHD recorder we peeped last week, it shares much the same specs including 3CCDs capable of capturing video at 1080i to SD/SDHC cards. This fully functional prototype, however, brings a Leica DICOMAR lens with 12x optical zoom, image processing LSI, and HDMI out. No word on pricing or ship date but hey, flaunt 'em if you gotta 'em Panny. More snaps after the break.

Want one of these
Am I missing something? Does this record onto a flash card? What is the capacity (in time) and would it be possible to just pipe it to a hard drive?
I wonder what the price is going to be. 3 chips beats up on what sony is releasing right now.
Dang. Will none of these cameras have a viewfinder? I need to tape in places where a LCD would be way too distracting.
Oh! you guys should be giving one of these away.
To me!

AVCHD Should allow you to fit 20 minutes on a 4gb card... That's only about 10 minutes less than with SD using mpeg2!

Isn't that a FireWire cable plugged in right under the tiny USB port?
Seems to me that *should* mean you can stream live video, though it's no guarantee.
that's a HDMI cable plugged in, not firewire.
I have a Sanyo Xacti HD1. I have not had any problems yet. It was a repaired unit that I paid only $359 us. I look forward to the new Pana AVCHD unit. I shot some video at www.Aftershockboats.com and www.carreraboats.com. Most of video should be up soon.
Also, I am shooting video for a billet I-Pod protector/holder with the HD1. It starts with a hot brunet and blond. They will be performing various sports activities. This includes going form boat, Jet Ski, quad, dune buggies… while taking her protected I-pod holder with her. Then as she steps out for the night, dressed to give a 21 year old a heart attack - she drops the unit in the street. It bounces through the streets, in slow motion, getting run over and other adventurous things until it comes to a stop. The ladies, looking perplexed, pick up their units, gently : ) in there "killer outfits" Then its business as usual and their night of heart stopping music doesn’t miss a beat - either does our hearts. The two girls stay on track, happy and health, for their evening that is uninterrupted with lesser unit of protection – its all about protection!, Right?
