Lenovo X60S Tablet PC rumored specs surface
We've just discovered on the interweb what appear to be leaked Lenovo X60S Tablet PC specs, so without further ado, here they be: option of Intel Core Solo or Core Duo Low Volt processors, SATA high-speed hard drive at 5400rpm (optionally 7200rpm), up to 4GB of RAM, 802.11a/b/g, optional Bluetooth, gigabit Ethernet, a 12.1-inch screen, and apparently the ability to accept stylus or fingertip inputs (i.e. digitizer and touchscreen capable). Now normally we might think that these are just fantasies of someone who's a sheet to the wind -- but the fact that Lenovo has removed the X41 (pictured) from its site indicates that perhaps there may be an element of truth to this rumor. Still, like all rumors, take it with a solid shaker-sized amount of salt. [Thanks, Flip S.]

This is great stuff. My T40p is slowly breaking down, but couldn't like the X41T for its resolution and HD limitations. The dualtouch idea is really neat too, I'll be able to use it as my home automation touchscreen controller...
I would enjoy procuring one of these.
For science students, X41T is a godsend even with the hard drive limitations (never thought resolution was that big of a factor, even coming from a Toshiba M200)
However with the 60 series' increased battery life, faster processor and hard drive, this thing will kick some ass.
However, the grass does look greener over on the tc4400's side as well.
You couldn't go wrong with either one though.
The new Gateway CX210X (which you can buy now) already looks to have better specs. You can get it with a Core 2 Duo nicely plumped out for about 2 grand.
I just got my new Lenovo, sure wish this model had been available though :)
The ability to switch between active and passive digitizer would be killer. That means it could run a modified UMPC front-end.
Good specs, but how about the optical drive?
Still external?
But how much is it going to weigh? Tablets really need to be light because they are designed to be held in your hands, not on the table. I've have an X41 and had a Toshiba 3505, both worked for me because they were light. I passed on Gateway's convertible because it was much heavier than I was willing to carry around.
I loved my Thinkpad X20 until the screen cracked (oops); awesome combo of size, weight & features for running Win & Office XP.
I've had a Toshiba M200 for almost 3 yrs & it has a few useful features:
1) 1400 x 1050 screen resolution rocks
2) nvidia display w/ great support for simultaneous multiple displays in different orientations.
3) The dock that allows you to rotate the screen & do multimon (tablet in portrait mode showing OneNote &/or Outlook w/ large display in landscape mode) helps productivity.
4) The eraser does help productivity ;-)
The M200 is too big and heavy for me though.
I'd love to get the best of both w/ an X64 capable processor w/ great battery life (isn't Santa Rosa chipset supposed to offer better battery life?) and either ATI or nVidia graphics instead of Intel. Or if you're bold a Turion X2 processor.
Lenovo - are you reading this?!? Please, pretty, please ;-) I'd love to put my M200 out to pasture in time for our Vista upgrade (more RMB for Lenovo, fewer Yen for Toshiba if you catch my drift ;-).
This posting is correct. I am at the Gartner IT Expo Show in Orlando. Today, I confirmed with Lenovo that it should be available in 3-4 weeks.
Comparing an ibm/lenovo with compaq/hp is like comparing Audi with Lada
