Leaf Aptus 75S, 65S and 54S debut
Leaf recently announced its newest digital back cameras, the Leaf AFi S-series -- which includes three models, the 75S, 65S and 54S. These new cams range from a 22 to 33 megapixel resolution, shoot at speeds from 0.8 seconds per frame (up to 75 frames per minute), have an unlimited burst depth, bring a "new, lossless image-compression engine," and pack FireWire 800 and up to 800 ISO sensitivity. Further, the camera has a good-sized 6 x 7 cm viewing screen on the rear panel. However, despite all the fanfare for this new series, we don't have the info we really want -- how much it'll cost (if you have to ask, you can't afford it) and how soon we can get one (does it really matter?).

wow. thats an insane camera!
Totaly wrong. This is a camera back.
Oh man, hopefully they've improved the RAW conversion time, thats the worst part of Leaf. I assist a photographer that has a Leaf, and while it has a great burst, the RAW conversion kills. He might look to upgrade to these, who knows.
I guess their primary focus is functionality. This thing is hideous.
Doesn't that guy look like Hansel...Hansel he is so hot right now!
Cookie to whoever gets the reference..
easy... Zoolander
For anybody thinking this is the whole camera, it's not. Medium format cameras are designed to be able to swap out the sensor in the back. The front of the camera includes the lens, shutter and reflex mirror. This is only the back module.
That guy needs some anger management
My Phase One P30 is 31.6 Megapixel and goes for about $20K. if Leaf's previous pricing for the Aptus 75 (33MP) is any indication, this new one should be about $29,999.99.
Ok it may just be me here but it looks like this thing may also support bluetooth, i could be completely wrong but i just noticed the little symbol on the screen.
Leaf's did have that feature where the image preview could be simultaneously viewed on a PDA by a client, so bluetooth would make sense.
yup Leaf has had Bluetooth in their camera backs for a few years now. We have an older Valeo22 at work that has bluetooth as well (Valeo is like the Aptus, but no screen)
