Eizo's Foris.TVs, now with less ugly
Thankfully, the sets we dubbed the ugliest HDTVs ever made just received a more muted make-over. These new 32/26/20-inch Foris.TV models come slathered in man-colors like black, gray, blue, red, and brown -- the colors of Pabst, dirt, and dare we say, victory. Each TV ships with integrated analog/digital tuners and a front-loading DVD player slotted between the bezel and speaker panel. You also get a 1366x768 resolution, 500cd/m2 brightness, HDMI input, and Ethernet among other in and outs. The 32/26-inchers are fitted with IPS panels throwing a 178-degree viewing angle and 2x HDMIs while the 20-incher delivers a VA panel with a 176-degree angle of visibility and single HDMI. Expect that 32-incher mounted to a remote controlled, moveable base to cost you ¥225,000 (about $1,973) while the 26-incher will demand ¥189,000 (about $1,657), and the 20-incher ¥136,500 (about $1,197) when these all go on sale in Japan on November 15th.

"Eizo's Fortis.TVs, now with less ugly"
Is it 'Fortis' or 'Foris'??
And they still look ugly.
I am made to think of one-legged blocky versions of Huey Dewey and Louie from the classic and most excellent film "Silent Running".
Take care of the forest.
Should have been titled:
"Eizo's Foris.TVs, now with exactly the same amount (just slightly different itteration) of ugly"
Nope still just as ugly, I cant EVER imagine seeing one of these in someones home.
Yep... Still Ugly... Only way I'd put one of these in my house is if I piled up all the AV equipment in front of that huge blue panel.
what I don't understand is why they are so expensive. Have you seen their computer monitors? a 24" monitor from them is like $1,600 when a monitor from companies like Samsung and Acer are half as much, with higher contrast, response times, and refresh rates.
So, they are ugly, tall and expensive?
Where are the buttons and the cartridge slot to play my gameboy games?
If an overpriced and ugly monitor falls in the Forist...will anyone watch?
They should just go ahead and put a clickwheel on the panel and complete the huge ipod look.
Looking at these other photos, I actually am starting to like the design. Plus you get FREE shipping.

LESS ugly?! These are much worse. The dark color if far clunkier and would stand out much more in any non black room.
Can anyone explain "Indication WHITE" (from the ad in the first engadget article) to me? Is it badly translated slang?
I think they are aiming for the Far East Hipster market. The "I'm too cool for TV ... but I still want a TV, so maybe this will look like an ironic gesture" people.
given that others are building LCD TVs the size of the actual panel - similar to the top of these - makes me wonder: What is in the huge box below the screen? Oh, it's the speaker panel... man, those sure are ugly speakers...
Still ugly as hell.
