Samsung's 10 megapixel SCH-B600 cameraphone hits for $950
Man, it sure took 'em long enough but Samsung just pushed the "world's first 10 megapixel mobile phone" onto shelves in Korea. Yeah, it's just the same cameraphone we fondled back at CeBIT in March of this year but hey, our eyes can't help but well with pride at the site of our pup all growed-up and turned out for use in the mean Seoul streets. All the specs are the same -- DMB mobile TV, MP3 player, business card reader, 3x optical zoom, LED autofocus, MMCmicro expansion, TV-out, and EV-DO -- only the price is new: 900,000 won or about $950 US green. Hey, bragging rights don't come cheap.

I think that feature is probably better suited for the American consumer ;)
One day I'm sure these "camera-phones" will be a unique and mysterious relic of gadget history.
One day I'm sure the "cameras" and "phones" will unique an myterious relics of gadget history.
$950? But how much is it with a monthly plan?
Can't wait to get my hands on one of these babies!
hmmm if you think about it, and I mean if you REALLY think about it, compare this to a rebel XTi with kit lens (18-55mm).
10 megapixels for both.
3x zoom for both.
...which are the specs that REALLY matter for digital cameras.
Plus for this: DMB mobile TV, MP3 player, business card reader, LED autofocus, MMCmicro expansion, TV-out, and EV-DO.
All this in a SMALL AND POCKETABLE SIZE.
Seriously, stop this megapixel madness, stupid.
Megapixels and focal length is all that matters for a camera?
That's funny, because I thought cameras' main purpose is to take GOOD pictures, not large pictures.
Ah but you dont realize that the un-washed masses wanted pixelated images of their brothers/cousins/sisters/mothers doing stupid things... plus if they acctually took GOOD pictures (heaven forbid) rumor sites would all but cease to exist as the grainy 'sneaky' preview shots of un-vouched for producture would all but vanish. (Heaven help me I am using sarcasm, must be time to go home!!). I for one stand firm that it is time for a new way of measuring digital cameras. Enough with this megapixel stuff, its time to start thinking about them in terms of sensor size, photo-sites, dyanmic range blah blah blah blah.. hmmm somehow I dont think describing this guy as a 3x5 (for 3mm x 5mm sensor) would woo as many folks as 10megapixels. *sigh*
Am I the only one that thinks this phone looks like it stepped out of 1998? Seriously, go to dpreview.com and look at the digital cameras from the late 90's.
yeah, im, its true about cameras, the quality is the most important, random freestyle photographers dont take pictures in 10mpix size, n if its some1 that may-b works for a advertising agency or sumtin, n needs these 10mpix, he will be needing that eos rebel D quality, atleast,
nuttin about the battery.?
are you retarded?
who types like that? ...go back to AOL. ...and 1997.
i'd just like to see Sprint take Samsung's A900 - add expandable memory (maybe shrink the design a little - it's thin but it's huge) and add a FLASH. ...no, the stupid little dull LED bulb isn't a flash.
It cant be that hard to integrate a quick, bright little flash.
2mp, 10mp, whatever. i'm sure the resulting image will be about the same quality, and to be honest, i prefer the weird crappy images my cameraphone takes. i HAVE a digital camera when i care about quality (and a film camera when i really care.)
