Monster's iEZClick wireless RF remote for iPod
It started with prodigiously overpriced cabling, recently branched into network media / automation devices, and now Monster Cable is dabbling in that oh-so-profitable iPod accessory market with the iEZClick. The RF-enabled wireless remote system works essentially like Scosche's rendition, and boasts controls for your 'Pod's volume level, track / playlist skipping, hold switch, and on / off functions. A smallish receiver plugs directly into the dock connector, and the oversized black remote can beam commands "up to 30 feet away" while your reportedly coveted PMP resides safe in the confines of a knapsack, handbag, purse, or questionably fashionable jean pocket; the liaison can also be rocked on a belt, handlebars or your wrist thanks to the thoughtfully included elastic strap. While we're too scratching our heads wondering why "high-end" interconnect firms are apparently the top dogs when it comes to dishing out the most decorous iPod remotes, Monster's iEZClick can be had for a (presumably inflated) $69.95.

'Cause, ya know it should'nt matter that your remote has about the same volume as the player your using...
Please, this thing looks like it could pass for a Darth Vader Super Ninja Watch in a Burger King kids meal

Umm, if that's all the functionality you want, just pick up a new shuffle. It's smaller and only $10 more.

Tom: What a silly thing to say. Just because someone wants to leave their iPod in their pocket or what have you, doesn't mean they only want the functionality of a shuffle all the time. Personally I would love something like this for when I am motorcycling. iPod stays safely in the tank bag. When I get to my destination I can then take it out and use any other features. Can't do that with a shuffle! Of course, this still wouldn't work as it is not waterproof. Good thing another company makes a waterproof one!

Or you could just own both a shuffle and a nano. As Joe says, this thing is huge.

Hey can you tell me what company makes a water proof device like this and wher I can get one? Thanks

This is rather unrelated, and has probably been done, but you know, the wireless remote thing kind of brought it back to my mind.
If it hasn't been done already, I'd love to see someone turn an iPod into a universal remote...scroll wheel functionality intact.
As for this, I suppose it's got some perks, like the motorcyclist above, but it seems a bit pricey for such an item.
How nice it would be to have a wireless iPod; wireless headphones, a wireless remote with 1 or 2 line readout that syncs to the unit...
Joe @ Oct 11th 2006 10:58AM
Sheesh, this thing is bigger than just armbanding the Nano to your arm. Seems as pointless as fitting wheels to a tomato.

I think it could be useful to use when snowboarding. The large size is almost a plus if you can actually hit the buttons with glvoes on.

This might be a little more useful for skiing/boarding as it's waterproof and has even larger buttons.
kbnguy @ Oct 11th 2006 2:45PM
haha. That remote is huge!
In term of size ratio, let's imaging this: If you have a 50" TV then its remote would be as big as your couch.
Huh? how's that for romote control?
sandeep @ Oct 11th 2006 3:01PM

Most of the comments about the size are retarted. Obviously its gotta be bigger than the Ipod so that you can easily press buttons with gloves one. That is the problem with snow

I've had mine for a couple of years now and generally love it. I use it for hiking, skiing, biking, driving (car and motorcycle) and it's great. I can leave my iPod in my pocket or in my backpack and control sound, on/off, volume without having to dig my iPod out every time. There is something odd with the sound control every once in a while where it turns all the way or all the way down with one push of the volume button, but only once in a while. It's easy to use and is perfect for when you have thick gloves on, can't dig your player out and need to quickly turn off or reduce volume, or can't take your eyes from the road in heavy traffic. I wouldn't want to be without it. It's very well made, has taken many a beating and still works great. Absolutely worth the money I paid.

I was hoping someone could answer me on this. I bought the monster iEZClick remote for my motorcycle. Works excellent, BIG water resisstant remote is just what I needed. Problem is, the RF Reciever that plugs into ipod seems to drain ipods battery in day or 2. Does anyone else have this problem?? I know just unplug reciever after each use, but it is very small and will get lost, besides being a apain.
