Details are WAY sketchy (for now), but buywindowsmobile.com has what appears to be the first confirmed evidence of an upgraded version of the
Motorola Q called the "Motorola Q Pro". No word yet on specs (HSDPA fans keep your fingers crossed), but they're reporting that it will come in black and sport Motorola's MOTOPRO Mobility Suite, which is a software package aimed at enterprise users. We had heard some earlier rumors about an
HSDPA-enabled Q getting out the door by Christmas, but according to these guys the release of the Q Pro is set for the first quarter of next year.

For the love of god, all I want is a GSM Q!
Buddha-G @ Oct 14th 2006 9:04PM
Recently got a Q to for a staff member at work to try out. Maybe I'm spoiled by the Treo (which has much to improve on), but the Q was slow and sluggish and the apps left a lot to be desired. Too much button clicking to get anywhere or do anything. Contacts sync with Outlook, sure, but every number per contact results in a new contact entry to scroll through. No Outlook Notes sync'ed, the calculator was so basic it was really a joke. Tried playing the sample videos and they stuttered! Sorry. My first impression was this was little more than a toy "smartphone" and really an extended feature phone, not by any means a PDA.

I could not agree more

Budda,
Congrats, yes the Q is a smartphone not a PDA.
This is the first enhanced phone I've bought and if you're used to it it's a great system. I never have to bust out a stylus to get things done (however there are things you simply can't do with the stock software like edit) I certainly like the amount of features it has compared to co-workers BlackBerrys and it isn't 1" thick like a i730 or Treo.
I've owned mine for a few months and yes it is sluggish, and video playback is marginal (from my one or two demos) but it does a good job as a corporate communication device as well as something to play some NES classics and MP3s from time to time.

Wish Cingular would get a Q!

Doesn't look bad, but my cellphone still do the job ;)

That's odd, my Best Buy is getting a black Q in for Verizon...
QManFoo @ Oct 15th 2006 12:13AM
haha, the guys over at http://www.qusers.com have been dying their Q cases black for awhile now. I remember when silver was all the rage, now everybody wants what they can't have. I hope those GSM data speeds are up to some slingboxing!
Bigman @ Oct 15th 2006 1:25AM
I have heard the same reports that people are dying their cases balck and various other colors.. I think the Q pro will be great but they definately need to include wifi and GPS as a standard in this one....There is already a heap of software and games and the new stuff coming out just seems to be getting better for the Q....There is a heap of stuff on this website i have found...www.motosmartzone.com

And the iPhone is where?
Joseph @ Oct 15th 2006 2:38AM
could this be the "Q" for SPRINT that has been rumored to launch Q1 2007? It could be like what happened with the Treo 700W and 700WX.
Verizon's exclusive on the Q holds a steady grip..
Then Sprint gets the Q, but not to be outdone, an UPGRADED version (PRO)..
makes sense, don't it?
Nick @ Oct 15th 2006 3:29AM
"And the iPhone is where?"
Well, according to analyst, it's ready... and has been for a year now. But, those pesky guys just can't be trusted.
jasonprini.com @ Oct 15th 2006 8:49AM
"has been for a year now."
Apple is going to release a year-old phone design? Must be for the US market.
Ethan @ Oct 15th 2006 12:05PM
Cingular sucks. That is all.
Matt @ Oct 15th 2006 3:02PM
this must be the Q that tmobile is going to release at the end of the year for $50... or not...
Bia Kunze @ Oct 16th 2006 7:07AM
Okay, but what about a decent Office Suite? Essencial for enterprise users.

Apparently ImportGSM has a GSM Motorola Q. It's a quad band unit and costs $700. If you REALLY want one that bad I guess you could buy that one. Ships in 60 days, which is, well, ridiculous.
