SlingPlayer Mac software in the wild -- it lives!
To all you doubting naysayers -- your time spent wishing for a Mac SlingPlayer client may soon be up. Our pals over at TUAW caught some snaps of the severely delayed SlingPlayer Mac client in the wild; looks like all we need is a Palm client and we'll have a happy little family all up in here.

What does this mean? If I get a sling box today can I use it tonight?

Yea...and why not? Is there a problem with that.

What's with the complete disregard for standard Mac UI? Was it really a better idea to replace it with ugly Windows close, minimize and maximize buttons? I wish Sling would take a hint from Elgato and leave the TV screen in a window by itself, free of controls, options, header bars, etc. I want to watch TV and not at half the size because the screen is so cluttered.

Do you always take comments that are posted in jest (i.e. with a wink smiley) so seriously? Take a chill pill... :-)
Before I posted I was planning on adding a comment that it would complete the family of Slingplayers, but I forgot. :-/

I agree with the ugly UI. But then again these are the same people who thought WMV would be the best solution.
Also, I can't wait for the Palm client!

Great, maybe they can share developers with Tivo!
Just kidding...Tivo is probably quite up to the challenge of writing their own mac client...so much so that I'm willing to hold my breath for it.
If anyone needs me, I'll be passed out under my desk.

Christ almighty that is ugly.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but I believe that's Paul's younger brother Mikey from American Chopper.
Discovery Channel too! I think that sorta half kinda proves it.
Which means, damn he's lazy he's big but he gets to play with crazy gadgets AND bikes!
*sits on couch and doesn't move*

In the wild? No one has planted any seeds outside yet.
jwbeck17 @ Oct 18th 2006 10:13PM
Excited ... but not holding my breath. They may have a Newton client out before the Mac or Palm client at ths point ;^)

Still no Symbian support. Why would the largest handset market come after Palm?
igroovela @ Oct 19th 2006 2:33AM
this took so long i'm losing interest in the slingbox!

Sling + Quicktime server= free P2P TV is coming to Mac, may be there are more steps to go but, I have a hope that I can watch the champions league in the US!!!
