Canon PowerShot G7 unboxed and put to use
Curious to see what Canon's new PowerShot G7 looks like when taken out from under the ever-loving gaze of meticulous press photos? Well, thanks to another eager Flickr user, you can get some vicarious hands-on kicks and an idea of how it performs to boot. The unboxing pics give a good look at the front and back of the cam, with the box shot revealing Canon's generous choice of SD card in the bundle -- really, who needs more than 32MB with a 10 megapixel camera? Also up for your perusal are a selection of sample pics taken with the G7, showing off the camera's performance at various settings and our photographer friend's excessively geeky but sadly familiar book collection. Check the link below for all the goodies.

I have that same exact ruler! It's a 15"er, and it's awesome!
It's a fun time when you can report that pictures of a Canon G7 were taken with a Nikon E4600
Gawd, does (s)he have a Bentley? I saw the logo in one of the pics, but I'm not sure if it's on a car, or something else...
Now why do they still include SD cards at all? The 32 MB thing will end up unused. And it will probably cost Canon... a few cents, anyway. They could have saved that money, couldn't they? Or have they produced too many and are new trying to get rid of their stocks?
Yeah, thats a Bentley, or at least it has Bentley rims and brakes too... but that doesn't neccessarily mean that he or she has one... I've taken photos of cars I don't own too. ;)
Does this support the new 4GB SD cards?
Thats a nice looking ruler; where would i be able to pick it up... searched forever on eBay with no results.
I always thought it was funny that cars have high-tech doors with sensors, automated windows, perfect temperature control, and houses are still requiring you to dig through your pocket for keys.
I can confirm this supports SD HC with an SD Card capacity of up to 32GB
Interesting. Canon always has pretty nice stuff, but their design choices elude me.
What is the total length and width of the LCD plus the anti-glare coating? I want to get a LCD protector for this Canon G7 camera.
No question that this is a great camera. I've now taken well over 1000 pictures of it and I am generally happy with the performance. I posted some supplemental experience with information. (http://ken-hanscom.blogspot.com/2007/01/canon-powershot-g7-1000-pictures-in.html)
