Speakers + lamp = the iLamp
Like it or not, one of the biggest gadget trends is towards "convergence" (whatever that means), so it's hardly a surprise to see home furnishing company Adesso attempt to combine a couple of speakers with a desk lamp: no prizes for guessing the product's name either -- the iLamp. The speakers connect to sound sources via a standard 3.5mm jack so non-iPod owners aren't excluded, although the built-in stand seems rather conveniently suited to the iPod's dimensions. Available in six different designs each with unique bulbs and wacky names (pictured is the "Rock On!" Architect lamp), the iLamp will set you back $89 -- a fair price to pay for convenience, or yet another iGimmick? You decide.[Via SciFi Tech]

I could see myself using that as an alarm clock with my iPod but then again I have a whole home stereo system for that.
i work for a store that just got these things in. The speakers look like cheap pieces of garbage, and so does the entire rest of it. I broke one of the displays by just touching it lightly.
I've had this lamp for like 3 months now... old news?
i decree this, iCrap
These are sold at my store. They are not quality.
I gotta go with Cowboy Bob and take it just a bit further: iCrap for iDiots.
iPod = iStupid
$89??
Target has these in Silver & White for $25
I love Lamp
No, iLove iLamp
didn't apple patten the letter "i"?
Nope, the iRiver preceded the iPod by a fair while. They do have the word "pod" copyrighted though.
I saw something similar at Target in the clearance lamp isle.
The other lamps were pushing one off the shelf and laughing, then some lady ran over it with her motorized chair.
When I called it to the attention of a clerk they just grabbed the remains hissing, "You saw nothing!" and ran into the back room sobbing.
No, he love lamp.
Welcome to the pants party.
This is retarded. Enough, people! We don't need more things to plug iPods in to!
Although I do think it's sort of funny because in a few years the iPod will be outdated, or at the very least sport a different connector in the bottom, and all these worthless accessories will be... well, worthless.
Did you write an article for every game to come out on the gamecube Engadget?
These ad nausium iAdvertisements as articles smacks of sponsored journalism.
yay!
now we can burn all ipods with the convenient included lamp!!!
If the world wasn't sooo overloaded with iPod this and iPod that to the point where anything new is ridiculed, this actually makes some sense. It is a "convergence of things that would already be on a persons desk, but more importantly, it is a very telling example of how integrated the iPod is becoming in people's lives. Just look at the picture, it is right there with all the other humdrum things that make up a person's desk or work table: pens, pencils, a lamp, probably an eraser, paperclips and rubber bands. This device is saying that the iPod is becoming one of those backgroud things that people use everyday and always will. Most iPod accessories are specially built stuff to take your iPod in new places, armbands, car adapters, home stereos; but this is placing the iPod second to the things a person needs to work, it's just right in there with anything else. Maybe it's made poorly, and maybe it won't catch on, but it is important.
I heard that each iPod has a sublimimal message that urges iPod owners to purchase iCrap products (hence the increase in sales of iMacs)
It's an 'artemide tolomeo' rip off
More iShite. Even if the speakers were good and loud, imagine turning it up and having all your pens and paper clips rattling. Thumbs down.
