While we've
seen an
assortment of 37-inch TVs
before, seriously, who wouldn't want 37 inches of liquid crystal awesomeness? This new NEC LCD3735WXM will hit the stage (also known as your home entertainment center) with an ATSC high def tuner, 1366 x 768 resolution, VGA / DVI (with HDCP support) along with S-video, component and composite video inputs, 16:9, and a 1,600:1 contrast ratio and a 9ms response time. Sadly, you'll have to wait until next month to throw down $2,300 to get one of these, though.

"And in other news, both Apple and Archos have PMP devices with higher screen resolutions that fit in your pocket..."
What a colossal waste of money.

or you can get a 1080p 37" westie for half the price

Yeah, because there's nothing like popping a bag of popcorn, turning off the lights, cranking up the surround sound system and sitting down to a movie on your PMP...

Sure Brian, a PMP is not a "home theatre view-screen of choice", but please, if you're going to take up that much wall real estate, at least let it be high-quality. Buying a device with pixels the size of a small dog doesn't sound like a wise purchasing decision. Nice contrast ratio, nice response time (for such a large beast), but the $2300 would be better spent on ... hell, anything.

I don't know about any PMPs having that sort of resolution, but I do agree that it's a waste of money. I'm going to buy a HDTV soon, so I've looked at a few LCDs... overpriced, and the ghosting, although minor, isn't acceptable to me. I put up with it on the PSP and stuff, but I just don't want it on my TV. LCDs have some practical uses, but I don't think television is one of them just yet.

i don't know what the hell you guys are talking about. i know there are plenty of lcds that are 1080p, but you'd be hard-pressed to find a plasma with higher resolution than this... 1366 x 768 is a pretty standard resolution (although, not one i'll be buying...)

That is really expensive, wow.
