iHome's iHM1B iPod nano portable speaker system
Still jamming out with your original iPod nano? If you haven't already picked up PodGear's PocketParty, and still need a portable speaker solution for times when tossing that boombox over your left shoulder isn't exact suitable, iHome's iMH1B has you covered. The portable speaker completely encloses your first-generation iPod nano, and adds a set of stereo speakers as well as a questionably elegant stand-up case to your DAP. Touting "SRS TruBass" technology, "easy access" to controls, and a water-resistant carry case, the only thing that's missing is support for Apple's latest selection of nanos. Nevertheless, the iHM1B is available now for $29.99.

This is a great idea. It is just about 8 months to late.

Loving the price

Jonathon, you're right.
(**PRE-VENT WARNING**)
How is it that this company can get the price of an iPod accesory right, but Apple (in all their glory) can't? If this was a Genuine Apple accesory, it would be $99.99. Granted, it would probably sound better, but I'm no super audiophile.
Hell, I paid 30 bucks for a case at RadioShack, and it scratched the screen on my 5G. It was one of those rubbery ones with the hard plastic insert over the screen section.
Grr... I'll just close off the vent now... and put on my flame suit, I know I'll need it.

This is a fantastic price for an iPod accessory, and I'm sure it would only take minor tweaking to allow it to work with both 2G and 1G Nano's.
A couple questions, though: how does the Nano actually insert? Does it slide in from the top, or does the plastic open like cassette decks of yore? If it slides, I have two problems with it, first, how do you get it out, using pressure against the wheel? Not so good! Second, I'd hate to imagine the scratches that would arise if some dirt/sand particles were trapped between the plastic and Nano when you slid it in/out. *shudder*

fugly. why would you put a perfectly minimalistic device into this kludged up radio shack hack!? Looks like something out of early 70's space tech...
