Altec Lansing's VS3251 5.1 system: so chic it hurts
Altec Lansing wants you to know that they've got another cheapazz, 5.1 surround sound rig ready to enhance your gaming, music, or movie experience. For $79, you can treat yourself to the VS3251 which features five, 9W satellites with 2.5-inch full-range drivers and a 25W subwoofer with 5-inch driver. The kit ships with a remote control, a couple of unspecified inputs for audio sources, and a headphone jack located inconveniently on the sub which will more than likely find itself tucked away in some corner. Perhaps the most interesting part of this set-up is that Altec Lansing thinks the look is "chic" -- er yeah, that's the word.

m using altec lancing 5.1 VS3251..but cant find any compatible sound card..i tried creative sound blaster Audigy Value, but da result was some speakers would not work...
I have a very low-end set-up at home and I think this would be just what I need to enjoy watching TV/DVDs on an old TV. I'm using it's built-in speakers and they rumble at some volumes.
Thing is, I wonder do they ship to Dublin, Ireland?
Personally, I dislike Altec Lansing - I have a set of Altec Lansing FX 6021's and within a month I started having issues with the control knob where if I turned the bass up at all, the whole sub would just drown out and I'd have to unplug the power to it and plug it back in.
Long live Logitech!
OMG! Surround sound for poor people! I bet they're so unsophisticated they don't even know games play the same compressed samples over and over again. With these speakers, they won't even hear the flaws!
I can hear Henry Kloss weeping.
Heh why is "the word" a link to "poo" ??? That made me laugh. :)
how do they stay in business?
every product ihave seen has come out of the box messed up...
they use elmer's glue to hold more of their products together..
I have the VS3151, which I stupidly bought as a cheap surround set about a year ago. The sub makes a constant buzzing noise, and the speakers produce a low volume hissing even when disconnected from the source. Apparently this is normal.
Oh yeah, forgot to add that they sound like shit :) Thin, weak, and muddy.
Wow! That makes my mind up. Thanks for the comments. Sounds like I'd get as much joy from this product as I would from eating broken glass and washing it down with a bottle of vinegar.
Cheers.
These speakers are a rather good deal. My friend uses the Logitech X-530 set, and my VS3251 can command more Bass than his! A lot of people may think this product sucks because of what they see on paper, but Logitech constantly stretches the truth with a lot of their sound equipment's spread sheets. I decided to try these over the cheaper X-540s, and I am happy with my decision. :) Logitech makes great products, and have very good customer support. However for speakers I buy Altec and for Mice I buy Razer. Razer makes way better mice.
