Sony's EV-DO-packin' VAIO VGN-TXN15P reviewed
Sony is bringing the long lasting, EV-DO-packin' goodness to us yet again in the revamped version of its VGN-TXN10. The folks at Laptop Mag got their lucky paws on Sony's latest 3G ultraportable, and were more than pleased with the results. Housing a 1.2GHz Intel Core Solo processor, 1GB of RAM, 80GB 4200RPM hard drive, dual-layer DVD burner, Intel's GMA950 integrated graphics set, and an 11.1-inch 1,366 x 768 resolution LCD, reviewers were thrilled with the decent performance and exceptionally long "8 hours, 32 minutes" of battery life they realized in testing. Both the design and long list of ammenties were greatly appreciaited, but the wee keyboard and (unsurprisingly) high pricetag were complained about. The "star attraction," as it was so aptly called, delivered a very impressive "average throughput of 768Kbps," with peaks as "high as 1Mbps." They did note that upload speeds were a tad slow, but they hope that Sprint's continued rollout of Rev A technology will help the issue resolve itself. Overall, it came "pretty close to being the ultimate ultraportable," and should suit just about anyone with deep enough pockets quite well.

"reviewers were thrilled with the decent performance and exceptionally long "8 hours, 32 minutes" of battery life they realized in testing."
Unfortunately, at 8 hours and 33 minutes, the batteries spontaneously exploded causing injury to the reviewers and a total loss of the computer itself.......

Wow negative comments about Sony from Engaget readers now there is something new!
It would seem from reading comments about Sony here at the "Engaget Institute for Measured and Impartial Comments" that Sony is the biggest loser of a company on the planet. Which makes me wonder how they have not only survived but managed to get as big as they are. Dumb luck? Perhaps they have hoodwinked the foolish world and only the Braniacs here can see them for what they are!
(if only they made lousy Evil-Killa-bots we would be able to exploit the flaws they would be sure to have)
I for one welcome our Hoodwinking, swill manufacturing, overlords.

I don't know what laptops these sony-haters use, but I guarantee they aren't anywhere near as nice as this TX model..
I just with I could (legally) run OS X on it.

I agree with Oliver
these things are the only time I wish OS X ran on something other than apple hardware.
and after so many years and so many people wanting an Apple ultra portable, it seems like the big boss at Apple really has something against them. Shame.

I recently bought this laptop and I absolutley love it. When I was searching for a laptop, only 1 thing mattered to me, Portability. Even if I had to sacrifice power or price. I only wish I can run Vista Ultimate / Vista Media Center on it (Can't due to graphic card), other then that, this laptop looks slick (I bought the black one), and constantly get compliments, and it is extremely light.
Just a couple days after I bought this, the new James Bond 007 Limited Edition came out for this laptop, which makes me very upset! That 007 package is absolutly beautiful!

I would really love to get one of this ultra-portable laptops for wireless websurfing at home. But at $2200 I can see why these and the tablet PCs are going to business people. Their the only ones how can afford them.
Does anyone make a sub 3 pound notebook without all the bells and whistles for ~$1K or am I just deaming?

Sony hasn't done any more wrong than any other company. So the fact that you hear alot of it, just because they're big, means that they suck? No, Sony is just like everyone else, they make mistakes, but sony has done ALOT more than most companies, especially M$ in fixing those problems fast. The only reason that you even hear about these problems is because one thing, Sony, IS A BIG COMPANY, so naturally, you will hear more buzz about the bad things then all of the good things.
You have no idea who I am, but i bet if I killed someone you would. It's really the some concept.
