TA 454 Digital Video Player brings video on a 1.5-inch screen
We're not exactly sure why anyone would want to watch anything on a 1.5-inch screen, but apparently the unwashed masses do; as such, enter the TA 454 Digital Video Player. About the size of two quarters, this $80 256MB media player takes SD cards and will playback WMV, MP3, SMV, JPG and eBook files. We're still mystified how the TA 454's engineers managed to get an FM tuner into that tiny case, too, but that's why they have advanced degrees and laboratories and we don't. Still, we'd like to see it go head-to-head against the iRiver N20, the other tiny DAP with a screen du jour.

Apple fanboys might wanna consider this since they're so conscious about size.

That has to be one of the stupidest things to say. This post is not even remotely related to Apple. But you still HAD to flame, didn't you? Stick to the post, please. Don't try and start unnecessary flame wars.
On the player: it doesn't look that bad. But the buttons are so uninspired. It's nothing exquisite, but maybe it isn't supposed to be for 80 bucks. Either way, I wouldn't buy it.

I'd take my Cowon iAudio U3 over this any day.
Just as small, great audio quality, better features.

Can't wait for watching Heros in HDTV on a 1,5" screen...
Wow. @ Nov 14th 2006 2:00PM
And just what size SD card are you gonna fit that HD data on?
Even for sarcasm, that's pretty stupid.
Anyway, on target, yeah, I'm gonna go with the general consensus that this thing blows. Considering they actually expect you to USE it for video, you are not looking at an eighty dollar investment, at all.
Lame.

what? and pc users tell there girlfriends size doesnt matter!?!?! lol ;)
anyway, this is stupid, and embodies the reason apple doesnt make the nano video capable.

FM tuners dont take up gobs of room at all; nothing special there.
I like the SD card choice. I dislike the formats on offer.

Yea, because I want to watch TV on a quarter! Seriously, you'll go cross eyed trying to see anything on that screen. That's missing point. Big screen, small enclosure, not smaller screen on small enclosure.

$80, video player. There will be people who buy it, and they will like it because it's a little video player.
Mister Cark @ Nov 14th 2006 1:48AM
It's ridiculous enough to offer video playback on a 1.5" screen. But, honestly people... ebook files!? I mean, that's a joke, right?
Right?

Hey guys, you suck at making old, very old news.
I bought such for my exgirfliend in JUNE!)
It is a funny DAP based on Sigmatel processor, with good sound, but bad video playing and low battery life (4-8 hours, depends on usage)... And also - it needs to be reseted from time to time(. And it can use only SD cards smaller than 1Gb.
It is avaible in Russia from more than 5 different companies, dor example Powerman
http://www.powerman-mp3.ru/goodscat/good/card/191/182/ [specs, partially in Russian]
Also avaible with built-in memory ranged from 256 to 2Gb, about 120$ for 2Gb model.
