Averatec Voya 320 brings GPS on the cheap
We last spotted Averatec's first GPS device this past summer, the Voya 350, and this week, the California-based company just released its update to the line: the Voya 320 navigation device. It seems to offer many of the same features that we saw in the previous model, including the same chip (Samsung 300MHz), the same amount of RAM (64MB), the same screen size and resolution (3.5-inch, 320 x 240), and same memory card slot (SD/MMC). However, the Voya 320 has a smaller battery life (two hours instead of four) and also has brought the price down to $300. Is an extra two hours of battery life worth $100? That's for you to decide.

These kinds of units aren't really for "walking around" - the only time you should need batteries anyway. So there's not much reason for them at all. I use a Garmin 2610 and love it and it's got no batteries at all!

"On the Cheap"...."On the Cheap"....I think I might scream....for your readers sake, please find a new phrase. Sorry, but this one is getting annoying.

Apparently OfficeMax will have this in-store on Black Friday for $224.99. (Note: I just found this link on Google and have nothing to do with its ad-splattered, referraly badness. But it does have a picture of the OfficeMax ad, which is nice).

Uhm, I think I'm missing something. I click the link to the company's site, but the product is $379, not $300.

You can get the same unit with more features from Teletype. The retail price is $399 for the Deluxe (3 million POI) and $459 for Premium (12 million POI), but using the coupon code "HOLIDAY" will give you an instant $150 off. Making it a pretty good deal. It is the same unit, but with different software. They are both made by some Korean outfit called Dotel: http://www.dotel.co.kr/product/pro_1_1_e.asp

Hello $300.00 dollars is not cheap! and by the way Engadegt what if you were on a boat lost you might have wished you payed for the extra two hours then so it doesn't sound like like much of an improvement to me...
cheap is when it's under a hundred...

Yo Fred,
Have you ever shopped for a GPS device? Three Benjamins is a steal.
It's like getting a brand new car for under $7000.
