Getting a Zune is on my list, as with "all" M$ products it seems they are easily hackable when they are first released XD, but get one before M$ fixes the "problems"
What's next? Zune crashtest? Zune aftermarket accesoires? First exploded Zune-battery? Stolen Zune on Hutsyflutsy College? Can't we just return to 'life as usual' (read: the ever boring Core 2 Duo announments...)

Finally something new about the Zune on Zngadget.
Is this where that hack of the quartz clock comes in? The one that makes the 3 days and all-you-can-play hold forever? Or is this hack unusable/impossible?
It is so amazing how all of the MAC lovers are hating on the Zune. If it was Ipod that came out with a WiFi feature, everyone would be saying how ahead of the times they are and that it is probably going to be used for so many other great features besides sharing 3x3 tunes. Anyway, just my impression. I am an Ipod nano 4g owner. Also, more competition will just make apple come up with the same features plus more. So chill out.

It is so amazing how many people still type "MAC" in all caps, as if it's an acronym, just as PC is an initialism. What do the letters M, A, and C stand for, Adam? It's as moronic as those who write "I-pod" or "iPOD." Don't you idiots ever see Apple's advertising? How could you miss seeing "Mac" or "iPod" somewhere?

No, I do not get my checks signed by Bill Gates and they do not come from microsoft. In fact I didn't get my first PC until about two years after I bought the macintosh power pc and I have owned a macbook in the past couple of years. My only point in saying that the Zune might not suck as bad as you wish is becuase it can be updated and is a DAP trying something new. P.S. I love your thought process (sarcasim) you think because I didn't bash Microsoft that I must be one of the employees. Try again
At this turbo nerd... (Scott S.)who says its dumb to type MAC in all caps. Like I care what the advertisment looks like. Brand names and logos change all the time. Did you or did you not understand what I was refering to?
I am a Zune customer.
I make sure all my song transfers - even my independent stuff - is approved by a US-based industry body made up of record companies called the RIAA. Because as we all know, they invented music and video and deserve to rule over my content with onerous "3-days-or-3-plays" restrictions. Welcome to the Social Police State.
No Mass Storage support. No two-way transfers of songs similar to a USB drive for data. No, no. We want to be ust like other industry-approved devices like Walkmans and iPods.
I love it all 'cause it comes in the colour I want. And it can play AAC files that I ripped from iTunes (i never bother changing default codecs)! And it converts all my vids slowly to WMV (with subsequent quality reduction, of course).
Microsoft sure knows how to avoid royalties for patented codecs on the Zune. Video limited to theirs. Zune Marketplace driving their inferior DRMd formats. They innovate a lot. Nobody has ever made a wifi device before with heavy restrictions like this. Genius. It should be a hit, as long as they market it right!
Look at the internals. Pure genius.
getting a bit tedious all the whingers out there whining about every new product released, Microsoft this, Apple that. Just grow up, you are not the centre of the universe, products are not released exclusively for you.

That would also explain your atrocious spelling, your grammar gaffes, and most importantly, you missing my point about the advertising, which was simply that the correctly-formatted "Mac" is so ubiquitous (not just in Apple's advertising, but throughout the press), that to continue to type it "MAC" is to brand yourself as an idiot.
Then you go and prove my point with "turbo nerd." I'll try to stop laughing. And by the way, there's this thing called a dictionary that you'll probably need to look up "atrocious," "gaffe," and "ubiquitous."
Then you can go back to trying to get your DELL d.j. to work with your E-mACHINES p.c with a sell-eron prosesor, right?
Scott, I wrote that last night after a few glasses of wine and thus, my spelling and grammer might have been a little off. The "turbo nerd" comment was supposed to be funny, please take it as such. As for my age and occupation... that shall not be disclosed at this moment. My deepest apology goes out to you if I offended you in any way.
As for my DAP, I use a 4gb nano. (the one that has a screen that scratches to easy)
In any event, I would still take my old Apple Power PC over any of my current PCs.
Looking forward to see the hacks for the Zune on this site....
