Hello Kitty's DC500 digicam
Let's face it: Hello Kitty has been losing a bit of gadget cred lately, what with that recent "spontaneous combustion" recall, along with a general move to the fluff. Well, Her Pinkness is back on track, feeding our specification lust while keeping to the pink and narrow. This new Hello Kitty DC500 digital camera sports a 5 megapixel CCD, 2-inch LCD, 32MB of built-in memory, an SD card slot and video support up to VGA resolutions. At 1-inch thick, it's not thinnest cam around, and only manages USB 1.1 transfers, but we'll take what we can get.

I love it, I want it, I need it

Forget pricing, is it mac compatible? My little girl would love one but she has an iMac and I know some cameras don't support mac.
F.Bizzaro @ Nov 16th 2006 1:55PM
Yo, Hello Kitty should wink when you take a picture. That would be cool.
gfar @ Nov 16th 2006 3:11PM
support mac? it's fuckin' usb. I'm sure it can at least show up as removable storage.
And it's not the camera that supports mac -- it's the mac that supports the camera. Put the blame where it's due, on your precious piece of fruit.

Yea, you're so PC smart that I can see the lack of intelligence. 'Fuckin' USB' fruit...yea I can see you just ooze pc intelligence and I blame you and M$ for that.

That's just in 3 minutes on google. So take your mac ignorance and shove them up your pc ass (or boring tan box) :)

use an sd card and connect a card reader to your mac.

Is the camera lens exposed all the time like in the first photo, or is it because it is on?

I know what my dad is getting for xmas

#1 I own both a mac and a PC.
#2 those are the 3 worst "cameras" I've seen. (a Kensington webcam, a Jenoptik 0.1 megapixel, and an unbranded "world smallest spy camera")
Any camera should at least be able to be seen as mass storage, if not, get an SD card reader and a box of tissues to wipe up your tears.

How much is this, and when is it available?
Darrell Lucas @ Nov 19th 2006 11:07PM
Whow Angry APPLE MAN alert!!!! Rick take it easy..
BTW the three cameras you found on the internet were all POS. Seriously.
The real way to transfer the picture for this type of camera is the same that I have done with all Digital cameras that I have owned. Thats removing the SD card and connecting it with your PC (said by Muncher). As long as your apple can recognize the picture format then you'll be just fine.

Ok i love this an i want to get it for my daughter but how do we know how much it is and how do i purchace it. I heard that target had a hello kitty digital for kids and i just wonder if it is the same one. If this is the case then I KNOW it is $29.99 ...... just unreal!

We have a problem the Hello Kitty snapshot camera,
where it appears that we did not get the camera/
computer cable with the package. We got the CD for
the program load but we did not find the usb inter-connect cable. Also, the connectors are aparantly not standard, the camera will take the broad USB plug in, which is normally the computer connector.
I checked with several computer stores, they have
a cable with the broad connector on each end, however, the cable assembly costs as much as the
camera, $40.00. We need to know what is happening
here, why the camera is not standard?

I just looked at PC World site and there is a 3.0 Hello Kitty for $130+ and the other Hello Kitty that a previous post stated it was at Target for $29.. I do not see anywhere where there is a 5.0?? Sounds to me like its a new release or going to be soon?? and I bet it's more than the $130+..
And by the way im also mac/pc and my imac G5 is just a plug-n-play.. I have had different cameras .. plug them into the usb and the imac knows what it is.. infact it tells me what kind of camera it is.. I love it.. and for graphics and that kind of thing.. Mac is the best.. but I still love my PC for other things too....
I get that all the time too, sudden hostility as soon as someone hears you have a mac.. "run, hide, ooohhh nooo not another mac user".. then come to find out they haven't the first clue of what a wonderful tool a mac is.. to me thats just plain ignorance and people like that should just be ignored.
Anyway, Happy Thanksgiving everyone, remember its the holidays you know "jolly, jolly" "peace on earth" and all that stuff..

Hello, how much for this camera?
Leon @ Jul 14th 2008 5:55AM
@ Charlene,
if you are still interested (because your post is recent), I just spotted this camera yesterday when I was looking for some Hello Kitty stuff which I maybe will sell in the future (this is also why I landed on this engadget post -> searching for more info on this HK cam:)). I'm located in Bangkok and spotted this cam for about 110 euro's with 1GB SD included. If you are still interested please contact me via my website usb4all.nl at the contact form (website is dutch, but you can use the contact form). Take care, Leon
