Sling announces Symbian SlingPlayer, partnership with 3

The estimated percentage of cellphones that were recycled in 2007.
The EPA estimated that of the 126.3 million cellphones disposed of in 2007, only 14 million -- about 10 percent -- were recycled. The rest? Landfill heaven. (source: EPA, July 2008)

Drool... both of those phones should really be over here in the states
Once again effectively proving why we need Symbian over here in North America.
If anyone is interested in knowing a bit more about how this app was conceived from a user interface point of view, I wrote a piece about using Mobile SVG to power this app's UI following discussion with the SlingMedia interaction designer who worked on this puppy.

Now all we need for the Symbian phones is a decent Video player like TCPMP or VLC.
At the moment we're all stuck with a POS stripped down Real-Player..
Coreplayer for Symbian should be out any day now. SlingPlayer could be a competitor though - they say S60 but I wonder if S90 is also supported as the platform is nearly identical, and the Nokia 7710 seems the ideal device (big & widescreen) for video.
What's the model number of the SE phone on the left?
The Sony/Ericsson phone is the W950i and the Nokia is the N73. Both are 3G dualband GSM phones.

It's not that Verizon and Cingular are afraid of the Slingbox, they just don't want people to have something for free, that could generate revenue for the company.
Any word on Slingbox for Palm OS? There are a lot of us out here who love our 700p, but could use just one more piece of software to make the experience complete.

the nokia n73 is s60v3 symbian which may be the base requirement... means we'd be good with the n80, n93 and n91 as well as the e-series like the e61. wifi enabled units make this even tastier.
