My Voice Remote gives your fingers a break
So if you got that One Voice Media Center Communicator when it came out last year, either you fell in love and remained parked in front of your media center all the time, or you gave up on it because you found that sitting so close to your flatscreen was killing your eyes. One Voice must have gotten a real deluge of emails from weary-eyed customers, because the company has just combined the simplicity of a time-tested television tradition, the remote control, and merged it with a microphone -- calling it the My Voice Remote. That way, instead of making your neighbors think that you've gone totally insane by barking commands at your media center, you now can order it around by talking into your remote directly from the comfort of your lounge chair. As if that wasn't weird enough, you can also use the remote as a Skype handset (seriously), which isn't quite at the same level of ridiculous-but-still-cool as Maxwell Smart's shoe phone, but we're sure that's coming next.

This is pretty cool. Does it work using a trigger word (ie, "Remote, ESPN") so that it wont change channels if you just say "ESPN", or is it based on a "press & hold" system? Or both? Maybe an LCD version is coming soon. Guess I should RTFA.
We had a voice-command remote control about 15 years ago and BOY did that thing suck. All you could do was tell it very specific commands (like power, numbers, channel up / down, volume up / down) but it was horrible. Half the time it didn't understand the numbers.
I remember it had 3 "user" profiles so each user had to train it to his / her voice. I hope this unit doesn't have that suck factor.
Try calling 1-800-FANDANGO in a car with friends. First they'll be talking and screw up the voice recon, then they'll start laughing at you as you RE-PEAT YOURSELF A MILLION TIMES.
Anyway, I hope this remote beats Fandango :P
Jeeze diddle. your comparing a 15 year old remote to the technology now. can you say moron?
Having seen this remote in a demo,it is more than cool. It has a push to talk feature which has specific commands. It is very accurate, fast and can even be used outside of your house for parties and such. This remote can also be used on any XP PC as a replacement for a mic and can be used with Dragon Dictation. The remote's main function is with Media Center and when used with One Voice's Media Center Communicator software it can bring up all of your media very fast. The email read and send is all done by voice. The added PC to phone calling feature added with the Skype function rounds out the whole package. Here is a link to what it can do with the software and catch the demo.
